I am really sad to say that even though I have never been a JW myself, I understood everything Quotes just wrote ("understood" it, but yeah it doesn't make sense to me either).
It has been explained to me and shown to me in this very twisted way: hate is actually a form of love. It might look like hate and sound like hate and act like hate and even be called hate, but to those who "know the truth" it's obviously love. When Jesus himself is described as an "executioner" full of hate (oops I mean love), well, really, that pretty much says it all.
To address the original question, I think your friend is likely very sincere when she says she doesn't hate anyone. Most JWs would say the same, and believe it. I guess it depends on whose definition of "hate" you're using.

JW and hate
by is there help out there inthere is a young jw at work and she states that she does not have anyone.
does the wt teach that all worldly people are evil and therefore jw must hate then.
if she does not hate them does this not make her a apostate.

"fade" Is this term or other "apostate" vocab being used in talks by JW's?
by Thechickennest ini am picking up a whole new set of terms, abreviations, etc.
from this forum.
with the number of increasing active jw's veiwing and using this forum i was wondering if this new language is making its way back into talks, meeting parts, preaching work or other areas in the social lives of current jw's?.

My JW has never used the term "fade" himself, but he knows exactly what I mean when I use it, no explanation required.

Plus, it seems this happened like 6 years ago, according to that link! The audio is available on YouTube:

On a side note, it seems Drew Carey is engaged to be married to a woman named Nicole Jaracz. LOL. -

Officially THE most twisted, appalling line of reasoning I've ever heard.
by betweenworlds ini've just received the latest digest from the yahoo groups 'jwtalks' there is a post in it by the person who runs it.
i've heard some bizarre reasoning in my time, but honestly i think this one takes the cake.

How sick and sad that every time that lady walks into a public place, her first and only thought is "everyone here will be slaughtered very very soon!" Even sicker and sadder that she was smugly patting herself on the back about it. UGH! Your response was hilarious, no surprise that she didn't get the point LOL but I really hope other diners there overheard this absurd exchange.
