thanks for all of the kind words....i hope i put a stop to it early...good thing i'm paranoid about my money and I check my account every morning over a cup of coffee. My wife makes fun of me for it, but this time it may have saved us some aggravation.

My wife's anxiety, guilt
by ashitaka inmy wife has been depressed each time we see our jw friends.
she doesn't want to see them anymore, because it reminds her of what she left behind, and it makes her feel bad.. i've offered to go back to meetings for a while to help her break away.
she never wants to go back, but her guilt and anger make her so uncomfortable around active jw's.....it's really bothering her.. any good books out there on breaking away from controlling organizations, especially concentrating on keeping the friendships but not the allegiance to the organization in question?

i would think that keeping your JW friends would just confuse you and your wife. We are quitting in 2 weeks and the only people from our JW lives we are keeping in contact with are people who know where we stand and are OK with it. Which isn't very many.

Will you go to the memorial
by freeborg ini have never missed a memorial in 20 years of being a jw, but this year will be the first one i miss because i refuse to set foot in any kingdom hall.
i was wondering how many that post here will attend the memorial and if so why?.
do you feel pressured into going by family or friends?.

What is your ex-JW retirement plan?
by Mindchild ini have been talking to a few people in chat recently about retirement strategies for ex-dubs.
it doesnt take a rocket scientist to realize that many people who exit the borg are really in a very poor situation in terms of their retirement prospects.
if it wasnt bad enough that there was always the pressure to avoid higher education and the corresponding quality jobs afforded by such, many dubs were just plain conned out of their resources by the borg in thinking that the end was just around the corner and you should pioneer, even if it meant selling your assets, going into debt, or turning down good job opportunities.

I plan on starting a 401K soon, I'd like to have a very nice stash when my wife and I are ready to retire. I'm 24 and she's 22. We have a nice savings account, nice salary, and we are still going to school. Alot of JW's in my area are heavily invested / have huge retirement plans.....I don't think many people really believe the end is coming. I certainly don't.

One thing that has always disappointed me is when exJWs resort to trickery to drive home a point on this date. Case in point, the May 1974 KM quote that permeates the internet and combines two separate paragraphs into one giving the impression that it was written that way.
here is how it appears on my CD-Rom:Reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and property and planning to finish out the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer service. Certainly this is a fine way to spend the short time remaining before the wicked world’s end.—1 John 2:17.

today's watchtower was pathetic. I didn't understand how they could not see the parallel to themselves.

Who are still in and who has left the JW Org? Why?
by STRUGGLE ingood morning!.
hi was just wondering who are still active in the organization and do you have doubts?
those of you who have left, briefly what made you leave, do you have any regrets, and was it hard making new friends?.
-
DIM
that sounds like a tough situation, I hope it improves for you Mister Biggs. I'm sort of paving the way for people to just leave me alone once we get to Seattle....my hair is much longer than it used to be (especially since I used to have a very short caesar cut), expressed my doubts to my mom. My mom should have turned me in to my congregations elders w/ the stuff I said to her, but she won't. They know how screwed up the judicial process is. My elders are very old school and hard liners....my wife and I would be given the boot very quickly.

thats funny Mister Biggs, I discussed many of my doubts w/ my pioneer mother who goes to a neighboring congregation.....she is basically convinced that i'm depressed b/c i'm not a servant. I guess people will think what they want to think....they cannot allow their minds to believe that you don't believe many of the teachings of the WTS. Anything I brought up (the UN, 2000's revenue, changed doctrine) was deemed not being faithful and possibly apostate (although my mom is doing her best to ignore this) amazing. hang in there.

DIM, I stand corrected! And I'm sorry I ever brought up the whole "Onan" thing for Christ's sake!
Hi Daniel, its funny to see how a couple of beers made me sound mean in my post last night, sorry about that.
