Excellent post.
I'm still confused...if the bible says do this until Jesus returns and the WTS says he returned in 1914, why exactly do they have the memorial?

it's that time again - that special time of the year when 6 million jehovah's witnesses meet together to reject the.
symbols of christian salvation.. never mind that jesus clearly said "he that feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life, and i shall resurrect.
him on the last day" (john 6:54) - in a plain reference to those who hoped in the general resurrection.. never mind that jesus is called the "one mediator between god and man" ( 1 tim.2:5).
Excellent post.

i feel that the "true" feelings of a great percentage of jw's today is more along the lines of hoping that the society will somehow self destruct and they can be free, and that they feel trapped in this religion.
many jw's have confided with me...albeit in guarded terms, that they want out...but they can't do anything because of family and peer pressure.
it is a very guarded society, under a collective dictatorship regime.
I have to agree w/ Minimus here....my mom and dad would never ever leave, no matter what happened. They don't care about any scandals or anything, those couldn't matter less.
.
is it normal that the watchtower treats people the same way throughout the world even though there are different cultures and ways of living?.
since the watchtower says it represents god, why should everything be based upon us standards?
um...who cares? It's all garbage anyway.
been done before i'm sure, but here we go......... 5. shawshank redemption.

i find something very distressing not to mention terribly sad about some of you people (and to those who are not one of these people i kindly ask to please don't fly into some "i'm so insulted!
" snit as if i'm wrongfully referring to you).
to those people i'm referring to i say: you rightfully hope for the british and u.s. military to destroy that saddam monster and its minions of mass-murdering/worshippers throughout iraq.
If that was the plan for the God of Jehovah's Witnesses (destroying all evil people) then fine, I agree with you.
But we both know that that is not what JW's teach. They teach that ALL people who aren't JW's at the end will be destroyed, evil or not. I really fail to see your point.
nbc's david bloom died apparently from natural causes in iraq.
so sad.
what a spitfire reporter he was.. http://www.msnbc.com/news/896267.asp?0cv=cb21.
hmmm...my quote thingie didn't work. sorry about that!

[quote]There's nothing wrong with doing your job, but professionals like david usually request/demand assignments like Iraq. They WILLINGLY AND WILLFULLY leave their (in David's case) three beautiful daughters behind and put themselves in danger of not going back home. For what? For TV time and career advancement.
I think that when you have children a parent's priorities should change. I thought it a bit laughable when they said on the Today show how much he put his family first. Oh really? By leaving your family for weeks on end and traveling to the other side of the world and volunteering to go to war?[/qoute]
This is perhaps the most idiotic statement I've ever read on this board. I sometimes have to travel around the country for my job....does that mean I'm not a good husband to my pregnant wife? Give me a break. David Bloom was one of the top reporters for NBC, I'm sure his wife and family accepted the different risks involved. Unless you have inside info from Bloom's family or NBC, your comments about this situation are highly idiotic and offensive.
i recently traveled to new york city, but was not there to focus attention on the watchtower.
rather, ground zero was on my agenda, and i was not disappointed, though i discovered a few surprises.
i have been in the twin towers (wtc) several times, and have pictures of the view, including the watchtower buildings across the east river.
I went to NYC right before I moved out west to Seattle.....everything felt the same (we usually took the train from Trenton, NJ to Penn Station) until the skyline of NYC was visible......just seemed very eerie to not see the twin towers. Ground Zero was a very sobering experience, but the sad part was that you could still see some vendors selling pieces of the rubble. Sick.
a questions that has been on my mind for 20+ years that i have been away.. and more recently - a friend of my sons was killed.
he ask me "mom where are you going when you die?
" i am worried because if you die, i don't know where you are going.
I grew up w/ summers on Long Beach Island, NJ. I want my ashes spread out on the Atlantic Ocean there.
i just thought i would warn you about something that paypal has been doing.
they just did it to me a couple of months ago.
or driver's license, and copies of some utility bills in my name.
I use it all of the time to purchase items through ebay, I've never had a problem. I'm not sure if I'd use it to accept payments if I ever sell items though, I've heard horror stories. Plus you get slammed w/ not only your ebay fees, but Paypal charges fees too.
