Its amazing to see what a band from New Hope, PA (close to my hometown) can inspire. Nice!

Did The Elders Always Talk With You "In A Spirit of Mildness"???
by minimus injw's, are as a rule, self-righteous pharisees.
they were the first to "report" you if they believed that you did something not up to standards.
even if you started "thinking" a certain way that might be considered "worldly", you might be talked to by 2 elders to "readjust you in a spirit of mildness.

I wouldn't say they were mean, they just nitpicked me to death. I always was getting counseled for having my sideburns too long or having my hair too long. Right before I moved to Seatle from Philly, I was still sort of attending meetings so I grew my hair really really long (for me anyway) to annoy everyone. Ironically I probably look more like a JW now than I ever have (with the exception of my goatee). Good times at the Kingdom Hall.

Have You Ever Served as an Attendant? Share Your Stories!
by Funchback ini remember being a jw lad (about 10 or 11 years old).
i would be at the circuit assembly and, at around 10:45 am, about 8 brothers would get up, walk slowly up the aisle, glancing at each row of their "section", their lips quivering as they silently count each person, trying to maintain focus as nearly each jw makes eye contact them (even though everyone knew what the attendants were doing!
did i want to grow up to be the president of the united states?

I've been a parking attendant at the VET and at Buckingham....After I was done parking at the VET...i got in my car, went to the Wawa in South Philly on Deleware Avenue then took a nice walk along South Street. After that I walked up 3rd Street to my fav music store which is sadly now gone, 3rd Street Jazz. I went back to the VET at lunch, walked around. Then after lunch was over I went home. Good Times!
Buckingham was a nightmare. No Fun!

Nice story Brian....everyone's situation is different yet in some ways very similar. It does get much easier, trust me. It may take years, but eventually people (sort of) will accept you. In fact, most of our old JW friends from Willow Grove pretend like everything is the same. Best wishes!
By the way, M, me, and Isabelle will be in town over Thanksgiving...we should all hook up...maybe over Badwillie's house???

I still find that learning about the weird teachings is really interesting. I also like to make sarcastic comments sometimes and also try and reason with some of the extreme anti JW's that the best revenge against these people is living your life and being happy, not by doing silly marches and basically being a JW in reverse.

Brian are you officially out?? I will email you pics of Isabelle tonight...got your email late last night....
For some reason Willow Grove elders never really came after us...very odd. I like that we just left but never were announced.
