Bethel talk at 79' DC in Nashville. On stage, had my fly down during the whole thing. Realized it at the end of the talk, turned bright red. Gymbob

Death of an Elder
by sacolton inmy wife planned to get her two-hours of service time on saturday - like we did every month.

In the last few years of being out and away from the witness world I've noticed a big differance between the way non-witnesses react to death and the way I was raised as a witness.
We all know about witness funerals in a kingdom hall sounding like a sunday sermon, never really mentioning much about the person who has past, but more about what that person believed and their hope for the future.
I believe witnesses, in general, don't know what to do, or how to react to death because of their belief system.

HOW to PROVE the ORGANIZATION misled, lied, erred about 1975
by Terry inthe march 15, 1980 watchtower article "choosing the best way of life" contains, on pages 17-18, a partial text of the talk.
in modern times such eagerness, commendable in itself, has led to attempts at setting dates for the desired liberation from the suffering and troubles that are the lot of persons throughout the earth.
with the appearance of the book life everlasting-in freedom of the sons of god, and its comments as to how appropriate it would be for the millennial reign of christ to parallel the seventh millennium of man's existence, considerable expectation was aroused regarding the year 1975. there were statements made then, and thereafter, stressing that this was only a possibility.

After all these years.........POOF! The desire is gone
by journey-on inafter all these years, i finally experienced this weird deep sense of calm, peaceful resignation.
i realized after desperately wanting my jw sister and the other witness family members to see the real "truth" about the organization that now i dont want to change them anymore.
i have absolutely no desire to pontificate on the absurdity of believing the doctrines and directives of the watchtower society.

If they ask, go ahead and answer any questions they have. I quit trying a few years back with my family and know just how you feel....at peace with myself. It's their problem not ours.

Bill Bowen to divorce???
by sacrebleu ini just got the latest silentlambs.org newsletter.
in it bill states that he is going through his second divorce and hints that he will be made the villain.
he goes on and on about the latest batman movie plot and applies it to his life.

I knew Bill Bowen at Bethel. He was a good guy then, and he has done a hell of a lot now to help children abuse victims from the watchtower.
If that newsletter he posted sounds a little weird (and it did) with references to the new Batman movie...so what? I went through a divorce a few years back after my
wife of 23 years left me because I chose to leave the witnesses. When you go through a divorce it hurts. You get down and write some seriously
scary, dumb s**t! I know I did! But then, in time you move on and get, and feel, better.....
I haven't spoke with Bill in almost 30 years and he probably doesn't even remember me. but I wish him the best. Gymbob

Counselled for nodding at a df'd person
by keyser soze ini remember this happening to my dad, when i was just a kid.
there was a disfellowshipped brother in the cong, whom my dad had been friends with.
before the meeting, my dad just nodded hello to him, didn't even say the word.

We had a woman in our cong. 35-40 years ago that continued to speak with her two DF'd daughters and they never came back to the witnesses. My dad constantly reminded us kids about how "this is what happens when you don't follow the faithful slave"s admonition"....
I remember a few years back a DF'd woman came into the hall and I said, "nice to see you", two elders saw it and came over to counsel me. So I just said, "well, aren't YOU glad to see her here?" They just looked at me so I walked away. Gymbob

I was in the Ink dept. working with John Camak when we first heard about the Harris press. Big John looked at me and said, "Maybe the first book that comes off that press will be "Armageddon- how did it affect you?"". I remember thinking to myself about John that somebody must have gotton some locoweed mixed up in their feed.....
