of course there's no one simple reason.
arrogance, i'm sure plays a role -- the ones that feel the wts counsel to avoid dialogue with opposers is meant for the ``weaker ones'' and cannot possibly apply to someone as well-grounded and mature as they.. it may be a tacit acknowledgement that the society's arguments against debate are specious.

I hope that more dubs log on and realise what the real truth is.
I have spent many years thinking that I was the only one on the whole planet who felt the way I did after escaping the clutches of the Borg. Now I find that there are thousands (perhaps millions) who have felt the full range of emotions that I have and it's good to know that I am not alone.

Like Daisy, they could never pin me down, for which I took lots of abuse.
Howoever, my sister got baptised when she was 14 (I was 12) at some district assembly in New York State somewhere and I remember getting right up to the railings of the baptismal pool and shouting for her not to do it, she would regret it. My mother grabbed me by the hair and hauled me off in embarrassment. I think that might have been an inkling...
And my sister DOES regret it!!
Trying to remember the name of the convention hall in NY...it smelled funny and the seating and decor was all blue and green with a big glass window that looked into the cafeteria. Any ideas??

This is the same old BS that they have been telling young people all along and if I had listened to them 13 years ago I would still be working for low pay and waiting for the end to arrive.
It's all down to the old adage, thanks but no thanks.
Go to college, pursue your goals. There's nothing wrong with wanting a decent life.

1. i was born and raised in south georgia.. 2. my favorite subject in school was math.. 3. i was in the fulltime service (bethel and pioneer) for 4 years.. 4. my favorite color is blue.. 5. mitch and i have been together over 12 years.. 6. we live in a suburb of atlanta georgia.. 7. we love to eat out and have friends over for dinner and board games.. 8. the only sport i was ever any good at is tennis.. 9. my favorite tv show of all time is the simpsons.. 10. we are both naturists and wish we could lay on the beach naked every day.

1. I am the second of four children ranging from two to 14 years apart. Born and raised in NJ.
2. My parents were hippies in the 60s (they took me and my sister to Woodstock, I was only a year so don't remember though!!)
3. They found THE TRUTH when I was around 3 or so and that's when things got weird..no VW camper anymore or beards (certainly no smoke!)
4. I couldn't wait to grow up. Did well in school and wanted to be an actress. Couldn't wait to get out of NJ and lose virginity.
5. Left home at 18 and went to college in Florida. Worked for a time as a flight attendant but didn't like it one bit. Decided to be court stenographer instead.
6. Met Englishman in Royal Navy in Florida in '91 when his ship was docked in the harbour. Very sexy uniform and accent. Couldn't help it.
7. Got pregnant by said Englishman (oops!!) and decided had nothing to lose by moving to the UK.
8. Got married in the UK, son born named Luke, went back to work as stenographer; also Weight Watchers Leader and physical trainer.
9. Last year grew restless with life and marriage, and at the age of 30, decided I had enough, pulled up stakes and came home to the US.
10. Separated now and VERY happy with son in the US. Think I am only beginning to find out who I am. Dating lots and having fun.
Life can be good....just have to try to make it that way.
My parents are still JWs and the Woodstock pictures are sadly missing from the photo album.

if jw's can be(or should i say are) df'd for smoking, why aren't people df'd for obesity.. it seems they say that you are violating your body and hurting it from smoking but i've never seen a person live over the age of 80 that was obese.
just seems like being obese is worse than smoking.
This topic interested me for a number of reasons.
I grew up in the Borg and I was an overweight child. I ate because I was unhappy, restricted and forced to live a lifestyle that I knew wasn't for me from a very early age.
I carried my weight problem over to adulthood but five years ago I lost 60 pounds and became a weight reduction leader and exercise instructor part-time.
There are medical reasons for some people being overweight, but that excuse is used far too much. Truth is, people are just eating too much and exercising too little.
But eating too much can be more than just gluttony. I ate because I was just plain unhappy and it was something to fill the void I had for so long. Until you address the issue of why you overeat, you will never really have long-term success in keeping it off.
Cosmo does have a point in a way. If the Society feels they can enter our bedrooms, why not interfere with what we eat?

No wonder they are moving...they have been reading the propery papers and have decided to cash in.
I have a property near London and the prices have skyrocketed...my house has doubled in value in only three years.

2001 2, 163, 602 (announced at dc, if i wrote tham down correctly).
I remember the Memorial and it wasn't so bad compared to the other meetings because it was shorter and I got to see all the weird bible studies that were paraded in!{:0)}
They probably even count babies...
