  Elders Appreciation Day?

  hi everyone, here i come, "from roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it.".

  i have been trying to keep from expressing my volatile opinions and doing pretty well until i came across this rediculous video.

  Two things. Number one...I don't know if it's the fault of the webcam (never owned one) or the capturing software, but a video encoded at 1-3 fps does not make for enjoyable viewing.

  Secondly, although you guys are quick to give her a good ribbing for singing in that maudlin fashion, I do see potential. She clearly enjoys herself, though of course, the "worthy examples" of JWs who abandoned musical careers for Da Troof would put a stop to any encouragement of that talent. It's sad. With some coaching on proper phrasing, breath control, and dynamics, she could be a really competent singer.

  Well, no point in learning how to sing well if the world's going to end tomorrow.

  i heard that the latest watchtower mag made reference to the borganization undergoing "invisible growth".

  I think you guys ought not to kid them so much about that "invisible growth" statement. I say "invisible growth" is a real phenomenon within the JW world and ought to be studied.

  Mainly, the growth of invisible space between the heads of the GB members, and the growth of invisible space they want to promote in the rank and file!!

  Did she just happen to fall into the mother of all negligences? Why did it take 40 years to notice that no one ever went into or out of the house?? Why did it take them forever to notice that no one was paying utilities or rent? That is, unless she did outright own the place.

  my whole life, even when i pioneered, i dreaded field service.

  i was always uncomfertable rolling up to peoples houses uninvited.

  so i used to have this technique where i would pretend to ring the bell.

  Yes, I have done both. I also walked very slow from house to house in order to take up more time.

  Funny how the "pioneer shuffle" is a universal technique...

  JWs and Star Trek...

  one part of my experience with the jw's was that many of the elders in my congreagtion were die hard into star trek...i figured it was isolated to that one kh, but as i went to different ones, i noticed it was a lot of them.

  one elder explained his fandom as: "it makes me think of the new system.

  we will travel to other planets when the earth is full, and colonize the galaxy.

  So are the aboriginals and native americans going to live somewhere by themselves in the new world or something? Why does their paradise pic not include other ethnic groups? Just an observation. I hope they don't respond to it.

  Good point, shopaholic. Why do they have to be so patronising to the tribes? "Look, you get your own little natural paradise, with another native guy who can talk to you!"

  See that? You can worship mother earth and the watchtower all at the same time. The Watchtower - new and improved. Hip to today's crowd.

  These are the same people that really think they can convert Jews and Muslims...if they didn't have such a crappy product to sell them, I'd say go for it.

  the hottest of the hot space chicks. More so than 7 of 9, even.

  raindog is in school right now and has been an excellent student....unfortunately his dad is an elder who is currently 'borgwashed'.. (story) http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/160240/1.ashx.

  he was made the dean's list (again) and has been invited to join the honor society !.

  so let's encourge this young man to keep moving forward in the face of this co outline!......

  Huge Fire in Northern California - Only 4 Miles from My Son and Girlfriend

  well, it happened.

  because of not getting virtually zero rain in northern california in march, april and may - the fire conditions up here are tinderbox dry as if it were already in august in late summer !

  the grasses in the foothills and manzanita bushes have been just itching to explode in flames !

  4 miles inbetween a wildfire is little consolation...as long as there are evacuation notices in order, I'm sure your son knows better than to hang around.

  If the wind drives west, there's really not much inbetween him and the fire. Even less so if he lives on the east side of town. It appears the fire has a channel to march downhill in the form of the Butte Creek canyon.
