my daughter is 18 and goes to meetings from time-to-time basically to mess with the dubs (she always wears mini-skirts) and keep up on gossip....she actually filled me in on this but i find it amusing.. sister "elly" (we'll just call her that) the buxom vixen of our spanish congo suddenly stopped showing up to meetings.
my curiosity became aroused when not one single person asked her mom about her!.
her mom and step-dad are super-dubs, the kind who take it personally if a child draws pictures during the meeting rather than sit ram-rod straight, if a bro uses the john more than once, or if a sister "forgets" her hose.
Terrible, terrible parents of poor Sister Elly!
I recently find out that a childhood friend who'd grown up in a more restrictive dub environment than myself had recently become pregnant. Apparently she just hung around the neighborhood rec center and found someone who'd give her a spin.
At least she's taking LaMaze classes...and I'm pretty sure her folks aren't going to throw her out onto the street...
i believe someday it will be as obscure and strange as say the russelites.
the meetings will only be attended by ppl over sixty or so and it will hardly be considered anywhere near as significant a religion as it is today.
i wonder what will begin this process.
Ah yes, someone posted their notes from the annual meeting of the JW's. Those are supposed to be some kind of board meetings to cover their being a corporation, but theirs are always about the mumbo jumbo of the "preaching work" and whatnot. The annual meeting notes included this claim by a GB member (Barr?) that the generation that saw the beginning of the last days would overlap with the generation that saw the end of the last days.
I'm curious to see how they could "scripturally" spin this into NuLight. It's like watching sausages get made--fascinating, yet repugnant.

the jubliee stand was the stand to be in, because it got the shade in the afternoon, wereas all the other stands would be frying.
i rember there was a mad insane dash for those seats everyday.
Oh yeah. The mad rush for seats. At Qualcomm the only really good open seats were on the second level...they all had cushions in them, and were head and shoulders above the main level's seats in terms of quality. Those were the first to go, along with all the coveted spots under the overhangs that were in perpetual shade.
Box seats were always a mystery. Who got to sit in them? Who got to sit in those press boxes? While I sweltered down below with the other peons, I'd always wonder what was going on...

....it is probably better to have a weak and corrupted WT Organisation, because as it has been said....older members will die off and newer ones will be weaker copies of the older generation....
You're right about the younger ones being weaker copies of the old. When I told my JW acquaintances about my lack of desire to return to the meetings, they were pretty accepting of my reasons. There was no concerted effort to get me to see "the error of my ways," just a sort of "Wow, that sucks dude" attitude.
I warned them that in a decade's time, the religion would look a lot more like the Mormons. They didn't believe me. But I think I'm on the right track. After all, these were "committed" JWs who thought nothing of my leaving the org. The Borg can't keep up the control as the numbers continue to crawl upward. Soon it will be much more of a cultural identity than a doctrinal identity.
i just learned the the kingdom halls have a coded phone number for listening in on the sunday meetings.
for my area the phone number is 623-748-1908. when it asks you for the code dial 623293. you can enter the number of listeners and you are counted in attendance.

My ex-hall has that system. I actually give them kudos for doing it this way. When I used to do the sound, I'd always have to juggle tying in confused grandmothers and equally confused sick publishers who had troubles with calling back on the phone line. It was a two-step process that often didn't work, because everyone had to call in first and then call the tie-in number. Often people would just call into the tie-number, and they'd get the spot.
When I told the attendance lackey that I didn't know how many were listening because the people who called to request the tie-in line were pushed out of the way by people who simply went to the first available spot, I would get chewed out for not stopping them.

When I saw married couples who were very close during prayers--and by very close I mean his hand around her waist, her head on his shoulder--I really thought that was a great. It was unusual to see any couple that close! And it felt good to see that in that very spiritual moment, they could also be intimate. As an unmarried man, I thought it was great to see. I looked forward to sharing that same allowable PDA with my future wife.

the second paragraph recommends dressing modestly at all times so you're ready to witness at a moment's notice.
it even says that your neat & clean appearance may arouse "curiosity".. .
HAHAHAHA! my mom used to ALWAYS be in my ear about 'dressing modestly' so that I didn't draw unnecessary attention to myself. Well let's see here: I'm almost 6ft tall, thin, long hair, and 'busty'....yeah....NOT gonna get any attention there! :-(

so we had our circuit assembly this past weekend, and it was the first one in my life that i told my wife i would not be attending.
we had a brief conversation on why, and she said well just go to this last one with me, and then when we can discuss what we learn and compare it to why you've been expressing your "new" feelings towards the wts.. i love my wife, and as much as i thought i was gonna hate it i decided to go.
now that i no longer want to be a jehovah's witness it really didnt bother me that nobody hardly talked to me despite me living in this same area for 4 1/2 years, everybody views me as spiritually weak because i dont go out in service, rarely attend meetings, dont comment, lesson is never underlined, so the "friends" never interact with me anyway and i'm use to it, actually that's the way i prefer it.
Stop texting? Wow. That was totally worth the drive. Did all the guys have to check their testicles as well as their brains at the door too?
someone arrested on a plane for preaching the bible.. who would be so stupid so as to quote the bible incessantly to the person sitting next to him?
then refusing to let the passenger get up from their seat until they finished preaching, so as not to acquire blood guilt?
and finally going beserk when he refused to stop, biting another passenger?.
All the deranged pioneers I knew couldn't afford a plane ticket, much less their subsidized rent. That rules it out from being a dub.
