Happened to my folks around the same time that I stopped going to meetings, in August. They seem to be happier now, especially since the ***hole P.O. (not calling him C.o.B.o.E., KABOOIE!) isn't there.

The Latest Lie
by agonus inin a recent watchtower, the paradise earth doctrine and its "uniqueness" to jehovah's witnesses is discussed.
i don't have a scan available at the moment but i may be able to obtain one.. .
what i wanted to bring your attention to is the paragraph discussing the bible students' teaching of a "paradise earth" under pastor russell's leadership.

If you can't scan it, agonus, just drop me a PM and I'll rummage through my folks' Washtowels to see if I can find it.

Inability to develop close connections with others
by Lemon_Lime_Shasta inhi all, i'm still pretty new here, but i wanted to talk about something more substansive than low quality generic soda brands (my first post and my logon name).. of all the negative side effects of my dub past, the one that still haunts me the most is my complete inability to develop any sort of depth in my relationships with others.
i'm not one to blame all my personal problems on the wbts, but i can't help but feel that it was a significant contributing factor.
i still hate talking about my past, and i work very hard to hide all aspects of my jw past from anyone i meet.

Being open and honest about your feelings and past is a good start. That's what I'm fixing right now. The JWs taught me to clam up, so no one can know how you really think, and no one can catch on to your "double life." Now that there is no double life, just my life, I try to open up and talk about feelings and concerns, and express myself more fully to people.
It's scary to trust people with your feelings. But the fear needs to be quenched.
Good luck in your journey to meet and be open with new people, Lemon Lime Shasta!

I didn't know about the pulled out drawers. I agree with the police, why would anyone take the trouble to pull them all out of their runnings? The fact that the laptop and cash weren't stolen? Also, it's worth noting that according to the program, they lived in a very safe neighborhood, which makes this crime all the more noteworthy for its statistical rarity.

Young people ask Awake January 2010 Why don't boys like me? Girls take please!
by restrangled inok, i'm pissed here is the advice from prepubescents from somewhere and some highlights from the article.
my comments in parenthesis.. "dress modestly, and maintain good hygiene.
" (just out of curiosity, does anyone know a teen-aged girl that is not obsessed with hygiene and who's view of modesty are they referring to?).
-
SirNose586
Haha, why don't boys like you? Because you're a sheltered, boring Stepford wife-in-training who is so deathly afraid of being counseled for "inappropriate conduct" that you dare not lay a hand on another boy. It's not totally your fault. You're just going along with the program.

Bad Press Casting Shadow Over The Watchtower! DISTURBING CONTENT
by koolaid-man inare the jehovah's witnesses beginning to snap under the pressure of their involvement with the watchtower organization's teachings and policies?
many are being sent over the edge... newspapers around the world are reporting heinous and evil acts that are connected to the jehovah's witness religion.
all of this bad press is casting a dark shadow over the doorway at 25 columbia heights, brooklyn, ny.

I find it fascinating to see these stories accumulate. However, cases of JW crime do not a "shadow of bad press" make. How many people care? How interesting are these stories beyond the communities in which these crimes occurred, and the ex-JW communities such as this forum?

Scientology Loses Fraud Case, A-list Member
by MadGiant insearch: scientology loses fraud case, a-list member.
with a fraud conviction, an oscar winner's angry departure and rumors of another a-list defection, the church of scientology is under fire.
here's a primer on the controversial religion and its recent round of negative press.. a paris court has convicted the church's french wing of fraud, after two ex-members alleged pressure to buy treatments and vitamins.

Anonymous owns. Thanks to them, and a number of other factors, most people know that Scientology is utter crap. But like any resilient cult, they'll be back for more. I just hope they lose their religion status in all the countries they operate in.

Maybe the special blue envelope is needed to match the special blue fringes on their garments. After all, the WT clearly favors Judaism over Christianity.

The tone and voice of the WTBTS publications/writings
by HappyGuy ini hope this doesn't sound too strange.
the first wtbts book that i read was the studies in the scriptures.
my grandfather gave my favorite cousin the entire set when we were both around 12. we read these books cover to cover like they were comic books.

I can only come to one of two conclusions about this. Either, there is a "holier than you maggots crawling around under the rocks" group think that permeates the headquarters and the people who do the writing get inculcated in this attitude. Or, and this is what I think is really the case, the WTBTS is under the control of demons. Because if you wanted to see what the inspired writings of demons would sound like, just read the WT. Now, I don't really believe in the bible's description of angels and demons, heaven, and hell. But, I do know that there are beings out there that are malevolent. What they are exactly I don't know, but I know they exist.
Hang on, I wouldn't jump to deeeemunz just yet. Your first idea seems plausible. In fact, I take your idea and simplify it even further--there's a style manual and all writing must conform to it. I think it would also be possible to train a group of "healthful words" ( ) proofreaders to make sure that everything sounds culty.
