The Big O in Montreal in 1988 was awful. Heat wave outside with no A/C inside to keep expenses down (those dumbasses). It was 99 degrees. Motorized stretchers couldn't keep up with the the elderly passing out. This was the year they released the (studied 3 times) Revelation book. Was hotter than Hell/Hades that day. Phew! Maybe Hell is hot.............

There are so many straws that have caused me to become disengaged that they equal a bale of hay.
1.psuedo friends that come up with their own secret version of disfellowshipping/shunning you if you don't tow what they consider to be "the spiritual line"
2.Having to listen to screwball elders pontificate from their soapbox, pat you on the head and tell you "don't worry little sheep." When their lives are swirling round and round down the toilet.
3.Being told "Wait On Jehovah", Trust in Jehovah! When you confront them with real issues they don't care to deal with. The straws go on.....

The three reasons we leave the "Truth"
by sleepy inseems to me there are mainly three roads most of us have taken.
1.we did something "wrong" and were disfellowshipped and after felt able to look at the society in a different light.. 2.we didn't like the "truth" and were looking for a way out.. 3.we wanted it to be the truth but were overcome by the mountain of evidence against it.. which is the most common i wonder.. also do our motives play a large part in how we deal with information criticising the org.. without a reason to act information seems useless.. for instance if a person feels he has nothing to gain by leaving the org will he read different things into the same info as us?.
i think so and that all who leave must have a reason to do so, something to gain.. this does not make their reasoning wrong or prove they we are looking for just excuse.. but is a normal way in which humans deals with information.. two humans can have the same information but if they want or desire different things they may use the information differently.. maybe thats wht so many say "where else is there to go?

WTC Charity: A Blown Opportunity by WTS
by Room 215 inapart from the noble imperatives of christian charity, the society's rather tepid response to the need for emergency assistance in the aftermath of the wtc tragedy across the harbor illustrates how calcified the thinking of their leadsership has become.. i know, they've accepted a few overnight jw guests and accommodated some others, but when measured against the magnitude of their resources, these meager photo-op and pr-op gestures are tiny.. by failing to sieze the moment, they blew a priceless opportunity to cut a a firebreak across what they must know will be a maelstrom of publice outrage and criticism when the dateline story runs.

LET'S MAKE A LITTLE WAGER
by You Know inperhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.
as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.
since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

What was said at meeting tonight
by MrMoe indad (elder) was unable to attend meeting tonight because of failing health.
he did tell me over the phone it was to be announced that this was not armegeddon, but just "signs of the times" since false religion is still standing.. although - from the point of view according to the bible- it says babylon the great is a city and people will see it all burn.
(no i do not think this is any sort of prophecy, so please do not give me any flack) any thought on this or other misunderstandings of wt doctrines on the bible book of revelation?
