  how can it be right for God to OK Lot screwing his own daughters?

  The historical books of the bible(genesis included) have lots of creepy stories but they are mentioned as facts, neither condemned or condoned.
  
  

  The bible mentions unicorns, satyrs (men with goat legs), cockatrices (rooster-serpents that kill when looked upon) and a race of Giants (they survived the Great Flood, because they appear both before and after it. I guess Noah made room for them on the Ark). The bible talks about these mythical creatures not in the mythical sense, but in the real sense, mentioning them right alongside real animals.   interestingly enough, the homepage of www.watchtower.org has the gall post a link ripping the trinity because, if true, "it should be clearly and consistently presented in the bible.

  guess they don't like anyone infringing on their rights to create.

  The word Holy Spirit does not appear in the Hebrew Scriptures in Hebrew at all. It is the result of poor translation in the Greek Scriptures.

  
  ummm. no Its not a mistranslated concept. Jesus introduced the Spirit as somebody new: John 14:16"And I will pray the father and he will give you another helper that he may abide with you forevere, the spirit of truth, whom the word cannot receive because it neither sees hin nor knows him...."John 14:26 "but the helper, the holy Spirit, whom the father will send in my name, he will teach you all things...."

  i know this has been mentioned before, but i'd like to bring that question to the front again.

  not only from a jw's perspective, but also from all other christians.. who lied to man and woman in the eden story?.

  yahweh god says to men: 17 "nevertheless of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you are not to eat, for on the day you eat of it you shall most surely die.

  "us", is used in the first chapter of genesis: "let us make man in our image according to our likeness"gen 1:26

  Satan would have to have been "invented" already before the serpent incident.( I was surpirsed at the WT teaching that the first evil act of Satan was to trick eve. Everybody else believes that Satan was already bad and just got in to mess with God's creation). Or else evil would not have existed as an option.(also about the snake being the same person as Satan:"so the great dragon was cast out , the serpent of old, called the devil and satan, who deceives the whole world"......Rev 12:'9

  Also on not dying immediately: maybe God did not "scrap them and start over" because they were deceived by satan.If they were not talked into it, we don't know whether they would have eaten the fruit or not.

  i think this can be used as solid proof that you can make the bible say just about anything.

  ummmmm, you might want to look into the nestle aland "novum testamentum graecae" to see that the major literal translations agree with the original koine greek manuscripts. The mistakes from one manuscript to another are small and unimportant. There was no major "tampering with the new testament as your post suggests.

  Oh dear. The woman who waited for thirty years, until the due date would be menaupausal by now! So then I would like to know if she knew how to get pregnant to begin with? And is her doctor a real doctor or did he train at the theocratic school of medicine?If all you need to translate the bible is two years of classical and one course of koine greek maybe all you need for a ob-gyn diploma is an extensive study in the song of solomon?

  Reaaaally, so if it would dishonor Jehovah that they would set foot in church what about Jesus when he went into a pharisees house and had dinner with him? Or hang out with tax collectors and prostitues?????? Was that dishonoring Jehovah also? What about when Paul toured the pagan temples in Athens? They were pagan for goodness sake!

  why are departing jw's bitter?

  i say the bitterness is directly proportional to the amount of emotional committment we made to their teachings.

  if we accepted them wholeheartedly, the bitterness was immense as we discovered the lies and coverups, while getting the blame on the missed date predictions, and seeing the ever-increasing legalistic structure of the society, not to even mention the shunning by loved ones who still remain.

  Even if just one child died because of the blood policy, or one molester went away free because of the two witnesses rule then you have the right to be angry. You would have to be dead not to be angry at such injustices.
