Read Truth or Consequences by Roy Milton, obtained a Bible other than the NWT, read Harry Potter and Left Behind, went to church, and started playing Dungeons and Dragons.

A young 18 year old girl comes to the elders and says "My new husband is beating me." and shows them the marks. So, they come over, sit on the couple's couch and say to the husband "So, your wife says you beat her. Are you beating your wife?" He says "No." They leave, the front door closes and it does not take rocket science to know what happened to the wife. And this repeated. Finally the sister, older and wiser and jaded, begs the elders "Don't ask my husband if he is beating me and then leave." They say OK. The DO comes over and sits on her couch and...... Bright guys huh?

Question about maternity leave
by katiekitten inis it true that in america there is no paid maternity leave?.
if so surely that means most people have to return to work pretty quick after they have had a baby?
if thats true, then surely that means its not possible to breast feed your baby exclusively for any time at all?

U.S. Healthcare affordable? Um - where is this? Our insurance just went up to about $400 a month for me to cover myself and the kids. My husband covers himself (free) - thankfully as he is diabetic. And my mom - well, she has no insurance so if she gets sick she just doesn't go to the doctor. Asthma meds get paid for out of pocket. People keep thinking she should have medicare or something, but really we have tried and there is no state program for her. They have her Social Security just up over the mark where she would get health assistance.
Imagine those whose work does not provide insurance - you just don't get sick and pray the kids never get hurt. This is the first time I have had insurance in years and feel like it is a luxury.

If you work for a company with over 100 employees and you have been on the job for over a year, you could get up to 6 weeks off without being fired. Whether it is paid or not - not usually. Otherwise, just save up paid vacation time and don't leave work until you are on your way to the hospital in labor. My friend worked out a deal (because she was new in small company) where she saved up her 2 weeks vacation and then got to work from home for another few weeks and then go back part time. Breastfeeding? I don't think they really care about that here..... (Employers that is.) Work choices? Unions? I still think they leave a lot to be desired.

Church of the Nazarene (edit to FRIENDS OF THE NAZARENE)
by Gringa indoes anyone know when this church was founded and who founded it?

Yeah, my husband is a Church of the Nazarene minister and if they are a break-off of anything, it is Methodists. The are mainstream Christian. From the Friends of Nazarene website, it looks like the name is the only real commonality. I didn't really look at any of the materials, but I wonder what the Church of Nazarene thinks of the name usage? LOL - they are really a very loving community who probably won't be horrid, but still......
