Troublesome Trinity Verses Part 3

i will be posting some more "troublesome trinity" verses shortly.

i am trying to concentrate on the verses used by non-trinitarians to "disprove" the trinity.

"mighty god" is jehovah in isaiah 10:21, jeremiah 32:18 etc.

Good post. I think that the confusion comes in for most people becaus ef the words "in subjection". I am in subjection to my husband even though we are both human and equal...our rank/position differs. My husband is higher rank than me. If the Father is higher rank than the Son, then the Son is in subjection to the Father, right? This is where the confusion is. It could be stated that while the Father is almighty, the Son is mighty because the Son is in subjection to the Father. I believe that Jesus is God becaue the bible only has to call Him God once and it does... but at the same time I do not believe that the Father is in subjection to the Son. I see that they are equal in power and authority, because the bible teaches that the Father has given all authority to the Son. I can see how this whole topic can confuse someone and atleast you have to admit that... The watchtower has to ignore much of the bible in order to come up with their theory but at the same time trinitarians need to remember that it is not an easy concept! Some like to say that the Son was in subjection while on earth only.....yet Christ is shown to be in subjection to His Father in the future in Cor.15:27-28. That is a little confusing.

I look at it this way...The Father and Son are worthy of my worship and both are called God/creator, that is clear enough for me. If we are only to worship God as the bible teaches.....then I only worship God. I feel that trying to figure this all out was only causing me to be unable to serve God properly because my confusion was causing me to judge others and become angry. Being taught that the trinity is evil from a small child....I really had to struggle with it but I have been given the grace to see that Christ is all I need and that the Father has called me to Him. I see very clearly that the bible teaches this concept from beginning to end yet it is still confusing and practically imposible to explain. I mean...if the Father is God and the Son is God then how is that one? Yet God is one and the bible calls Christ God....You gotta admit that is a tough one for humans who do math.The bible says what it says though....love, dj

edited to say: I suppose the key is to understand that the word for "One" that was used in Hebrew held the meaning of "one as in a cluster of grapes". that is very important to understand imo. Also, the fact that woman came from man (Adam's rib) makes it understandable as to why women are in subjection to men. Much like Christ claims that He "came out from God" in John....I suppose that is why He is God yet in subjection to the Father. Make sense?

A few years ago I had the opportunity to talk to my jw sister....she was trying to reconvert me. I told her that I felt that Jesus taught love and she declared in a sarcastic condescending tone..."No, love...love love...no, YOU NEED ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE" I wa so taken back that I didn't even respond. Now, looking back I wish that I had answered her. You can have all the knowledge in the entire universe but if you don't have love, you have nothing.

I can speak for myself anyway.....I never heard the real gospel of Christ that is taught in the bible by the jw's......that's for sure. I believe that there are many who have only been taught a false gospel in the world. love, dj

WELCOME(((((((((( (Brandon and Stephanie))))))))) Hold onto your hats because getting off of the wt merry-go-round can be very bumpy. Hang tight and pray while you read the bible. It isn't easy to read it w/o your jw glasses on but in time you will be able to really see Christ and His gospel not man's. I hope that I didn't overstep my bounds with all of that advice. I just remember all of the fear and pain that I went thru and thought I'd offer you my best. Family........hmmm, tough one... Just give them love, that's all. Try not to be tooooo surprised at their behavior....I am so happy that you two are together on this. You will be able to encourage one another during this storm. love, dj

I'd also like to add to the poster who asked if the gospel had already been preached in the world that I never heard the gospel growing up.....the wt garble was a far cry from what the bible actually teaches.

Do you have a 'turning point' memory that started you to question?

mine was when i was about ten years old or so back in the mid sixties.

we had a guy in our k.hall who actually lived through the 1914 experience (earl senior).

he was well into his seventies i guess even then and was one of the annointed.

My turning point away from the jw teachings was after a series of times when I asked questions about Christ and repeatedly got the same glare and "Yes, he was a great and perfect man"...... I was asking to learn more about Him because I wanted to know Him....but they showed annoyance with my curiousity. Inevitably, I was always pointed to some obscure verse in the OT that pointed out the name Jehovah as if I had done something awful by asking about Jesus. Then one night I read the book of Romans straight thru and I knew then that I had not been taught the gospel of Christ but of man. I also realized that by the simple fact of our love for Christ we are loved by the Father (John).....blew me away......I never heard that before.... It made me think that maybe those "Christians" who love Christ Jesus really are loved by God the Father???? That freaked me because they taught the opposite. I felt that they taught me about love for the Father being demanded by obedience to the wt rules. This was not what I read when I read the bible alone and prayed. It was like a thick, slimy film was washed from my eyes. love, dj

It is silly to me though when people see God (OT) as a big meanie and Christ as a lovely teddy bear. This is not an accurate view of Christ at all. God is just, and demands obedience and always has. The people who see Christ as some milk-toast are not reading their bible. He will repay. He never tolerated disobedience and He will return with reward and punishment. He aint messin...

I'm going to visit my jw family

i'll be spending a short amount of time visiting with my mom; my sibs will also likely be there when i arrive.

i'm hoping for a peaceful visit, but i've had a terrible experience being "ambushed" despite their promise to respect my decision not to talk about my reasons for leaving the wts.. do any of you know of any new campaign or tactics to get ex-jw's to talk or confess?

i just want to be prepared for the latest but i will refuse to engage with them, as always.

Hi Emma,

I agree with jgnat. I'd also like to give you a little advice based on my own experiences with my family. Just offer them love and only kind words. Bite your tongue if/when they start on you. Just stay calm and answer them with love but quite to the point. I am a Christian now and my family are all jw's....this is the only thing that has worked for me. To let them get to you when they are condescending is a big no no. Be prepared to handle whatever they dish out without getting riled up in any way. if you still pray....then I would pray for the wisdom and patience and love to deal with it all. If they haven't seen you for a while they may just play it cool and friendly and wait for a later date to re-convert you. You know that they are misled and that they really do feel that you made a mistake by leaving so....try to keep that in mind because it will give you compassion toward them. Being deceived and misled is a horrible thing as you know, so do try to keep that in mind and open your heart with compassion for them while protecting yourself against their wiles. she was a jw for awhile ?

?dont know much about that -but i saw her husband on jw -( larry king live) he stated there >>he was a jw>>> not one anymore.. so if you would like to be unjudgemental.
