Hurts so good?
by return visitor ini know many have been hurt by association with the wts, but i was just wondering, are there any truths that you accually can take away from your association with it.
for instance, before becoming a jw i would recite the lord's prayer, and had never read in matt.
that is was not to be recited, but that it was mearly there as an example of how to pray.

In-laws getting in the way...
by roflcopter inmy marriage has been hitting rocky roads lately because the in-laws know my stand as far as what i feel about jehovah's witnesses.
every 3 days or so they send my wife a letter full of propoganda and how she needs to come back home, yadda yadda.
it truly is recking my marriage.

I don't know your exact circumstances, nor do I want to know them, but if you are not abusing your wife of cheating on her, her family should not be urging her to leave you. You might want to consider sending copies of these letters to your in-law's body of elders, if they have any sense, they will tell her she is out of line. The bottom line really is- does your wife love you and want to stay with you? If the answer is yes, work tirelessly to improve your marrige, starting with setting some ground rules for in-laws.

How do I get out of this?

i have a friend, we grew up together as close as sisters, and she lives about 6 hours away from me.
she has been there through everything with me and i love her dearly.

You and your family deserve to make the arrival of this baby special in your own way. If that means immidiate family only, than so be it. Maybe ask your friend to come over for a weekend in a couple of months or so. If she gets offended, she is being self-centered and inconsiderate. This is not about her, and you don't need friends that are that shallow.

Special Assembly 2-Day 2,000 delegates and TWO baptisms!
by MinisterAmos injust got back from the special one day assembly and had to share this important info.
only two baptisms today; two girls about 15-16 out of 2,000 attendees.. i stumbled more than two with my anti-witnessing.
i posted un expose material in the bathrooms along with pre and post nov 1995 1914 generation belief.. incidentally, attendance was down almost 25% over last year as well.

Having been a witness for all my 47 years and now going through a slow fade, my overwhelming feeling is an intense desire to be myself. I feel a need to be free to express my true feelings, likes, dislikes, whatever w/o having to filter my thoughts, words and actions through the Society's filter of what I am supposed to be. It's as if I have been living someone else's life all these years and I don't want to waste any more time. I had my childhood stolen from me, I lived my early and middle adulthood trying to conform to standards I did not always agree with or feel were necesary. I don't want to spend the rest of my life not being true to myself. I don't want to waste any more time.

My son is taking his SAT's for the second time tomorrow. He is very smart, is in a bunch of AP classes, makes good grades, but does not do well on standarized tests. He has been going over an SAt prep book. Hope he does well.

by nelly1 inwe did one year we heard that our co's wife was caught doing it with a special pioneer than was staying with them, co was taken off the circuit, and our po"s daughter was having a lesbian affair with her roomate, of course i knew before she dissasociated herself i told a sister i knew they were and she told me it was slanderous, then 2 weeks later it all came out, she then ran off with a dissfellowshipped lesbian over double her age, the other lesbian was publicly reproved but i have since heard shes been disfellowshipped for lesbianism, a question?
i thought if you were a po and one of your household was found to be doing something that bad then you had to stand down, is that right?

Not necesarilly. Depends on a lot of things, age of child, did Dad have any prior knowledge, was child counseled about dangerous behavior but ignored counsil...
Also, unfortunatly, in some cong. it depends on how popular or how much pull the elder has.

So ashamed this morning........
by Frannie Banannie ini was at the grocery store, wheeling a cart about 1/4 full.
the desire to have some cigarettes was so overwhelming that i avoided my family members with me at the store, grabbed two packs of my favorite brand of cigarettes and hid them under the growing pile of items in my cart.. it was about that time that i woke up.
and very briefly, until i came to my senses, i felt that it was no use to even try if i was going to be so weak as to sabotage my own efforts to be strong..

How old did you expect to be when the New System would come?
by JH ini became a jw at age 28 and no way did i expect to ever get older than 40 years old in this system.. maybe at the extreme, i could have imagined being 45 years old, not more..

I am 47 now. I was told I would not make it to kindergarden, then high school. My mom always told me I was fortunate because I wouold not grow old in this system. Today, I am about to become a grandomther and my mom is 83. You do the math...
