Is it easier to prove that a religion is "Right" or that it is "Wrong"?
by JH inthe jw's say that they have the "truth".. is it up to them to prove that they are right, or up to others to prove them wrong?.

To use the WT's reasoning 'if what you are being taught contadicts the Bible, the religion is false and you need to get out".

Did you ever think you'd stop being one of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by sandy ini'm sure this question has been asked before .
i've come a long way in my thinking.

Being raised a witness there were times I would fantasize about what life would be like if we had never been witnesses. When the Sears catalog would come in the mail I would go thriugh it and pick out the Christmas tree we would have and the presents I would receive and give. Things like these would pop into my brain every now and then, but I would never think of leaving. I always doubted certain things, but I pushed them away and waited on Jehovah. Then I found out about the UN issue and all my doubts hit me in the face. I looked into issues that had bothered me and when I looked at it all toghther I realized I could not stand by the WT anymore. So today I'm in the process of fading. I hope to escape with the least amount of damage possible.

Welcome! You are not alone. Those of us raised in the truth have a distorted way of viewing life. The standards we were made to uphold were so strict few of us could live up to them. That brings with it a constant cycle of self defeat. It looks like you've reached the point of finally breaking that cycle. Go get some qualified help with your drinking problems and stick around here for support. It's never too late to start over. I'm 47 and just started down this road in June. It's not easy but it's better than the alternative of staying stuck in a destructive cycle.
Take care...

Dear Purps: I'm really sorry you are having a bad day. I appreciate how cherry and uplifting you usually seem. I have days like yours too. What we have lived through as witnesses is so intense and life consuming that it can not be left behind easily. After 47 years I doubt I'll ever be trully "out".My life was molded by the the WT. I would need to suffer total amnesia to not be influenced. I too am sorry for the things I denied my children. Today one is grown and the youngest 17, so ther is no use crying over spilled milk. I just try each day to do and say things that prove my unconditional love for them (something I feel the WT keeps parents from having), and to give my 17 year old the freedom to become the person he trully is.
I hope tomorow is a better day...

don't they have to go in groups of 2?.

Welcome! I'm glad you went back to school. You won't find it any harder than high school. Keep on top of your assignments and don't get behind. It is not the "Sodom and Gomorrah" you've been warned of. There are all types of people just like anywhere else. Choose friends that share your interests and morals. And don't forget to have fun!

Hypocrisy on holidays, etc.
by Rebirth ini was just thinking about how hypocritical it is for jw's to declare things like birthdays, christmas, easter, thanksgiving, etc.
as defiled because of their roots.
their roots, their beginning, in the days of russell, are the things that they find disgusting today (the cross, birthdays, blood, etc.).
