Heard an interesting comment at a wedding reherasal I am attending out of town.. The elder, joking around during the rehersal, said:" Did you know the wedding ring is a pagan symbol? Funny how they pick and choose which pagan things to use." I was taken aback and wondered if that elder is here. If you are, I'd love to meet you in person. PM me so we can talk.

My Re-instatement Letter
by Hangin_on inthis is weird.
i searched on the internet for ideas for my re-instatement letter and after gathering my information i submitted it.
the local body of elders questioned some of the information on it asking if it was from my heart and asking where i got it.

You plaigerized a re-instatement letter!!!??? I'm sorry, that is one of the funniest things I've ever heard! I'm guessing you did not get re-instated...
Anyway, welcome to the board. You will fit right in. And good luck with the next letter.

Fixing Yourself
by KW13 inafter the dubs, i found i had to 'rebuild myself' and discover who i actually was, anything prior to the dubs is usually well gone and a chance for a life requires sheer dedication.. fortunately i used some of the the things i was taught as a dub (like standing my ground when i firmly believe something) and managed to pull through like all of you have done or are doing .
its a pity such an org exists as the wbt society...if i had the chance to end it now i wouldn't pass on it..

Why didn't someone warn me?
by slimboyfat inmy god i thought i was going to have a heart attack!
why didn't someone warn me there was going to be a talk on "how to identify an apostate" tonight?.
well i am just lucky the brother didn't mention the tell tale signs of firstly, clutching your chest at the surprise when you hear title of the talk, then grabbing hold of the seat like you are on a nose-diving airplane for its duration.

Were you a loud singer?
by HockeyMullet ini don't know why, but i was just thinking of this guy in my hall that sang so loud that it was embarassing to just be there.
he sounded like the love child of kermit the frog and miss piggy.
i remember trying to mimick his voice during one song and getting counseled by one of the bros because i had a few of younger guys laughing.

I actually loved Kingdom Melodies. I'm shy about singing in public but I actually like to sing so I enjoyed the opportunity to sing at meetings. I am a soprano but my voice is soft so even if I "belted it out', I don't think you would have heard me if you were not right around me.

Things YOU eat, that other people think is weird.
by misanthropic inthis mornings events have got me thinking about things.
i love peanut butter, not the sweet kind but i like the old fashioned peanut butter, usually laura scudder's with no sugar or preservatives - it just tastes better imo.
i put it on everything including pancakes which are really good with peanut butter and maple syrup.

Talk on Apostates
by IslandBrother inhave you ever walked on the beach and tried following another persons footprints; matching your own steps with them as exactly as possible?
by calling ourselves christians, we have indicated our desire to do just that, to follow closely in the footsteps of christ.
have you ever noticed though that on a crowded beach, , there were several sets of footprints, many of them may look alike.

Witnesses encourage new ones to examine their religions, and if they find any false teachings or practices, to abandon them. As a witness, I examined my religion, found it to be false, and my god given conscience forces me to abandon it. If you dare to do the same, and have a conscience, you will leave too.
By the way, welcome to the board!!

Put the story you just posted in letter form (omit the rot in hell part), and send it to your dad. If he has any feelings at all it will melt his heart.
You must be out of your mind! Nobody enjoys the drive from NYC to DC!!!

That feeling that it could al be false how did you experience it?
by GBSJG inwhen i started researching i was still convinced that jws had the truth.
so i read some critical articles by ex-jws about certain teaching and i started to do some more research.. at this time i have successfully faded and no longer believe anymore.
but i can remember the moment when i first allowed the thought in my mind that it could all be false and not the truth.

You said a "mix of freedom and anxiety". Absolutly right. LIke all the pieces of a puzzle coming together and forming an unexpected picture. Sort of an "Ahh" moment with "Uh Oh" overtones.
