We saw "The Departed" last night and it was awesome! Be aware that it's quite violent and has lots of bad language. However the plot is great and it moves at a fast pace. The acting could not be better. Jack Nickelson is always a treat and Leonardo Dicaprio has come out of his ugly stage and is a stud muffin once again. Two thumbs up!

Hannibal Lecter only ate rude people. If he were real he would find some tasty morsels in Brooklyn!

those "books" are the KM school material printed out and bound in book form. Most people do it themselves and email it to friends and family at the beggining of the year. I have never heard of anyone selling them, but I would not be surprised.
Personally, I think it's probably an inocent thing, people sharing a useful tool with their friends. But the Society sees this kind of interchange as threatening...Go figure.

MOve on!???
by Core88 inok so i am a ex-witness,(disfellowshiped) i have posted here before...but i must say why have'nt we moved on?
come on i mean if we all really thought that the jw sect was just that then why are we not trying to forget it and let life go on as it has; and try to be true to ourselves and our neighbor and read jesus words as recorded in the bible?
i have been reading my bible on lunch breaks at my work, as well as reading in the dhammapada.

Would you tell a depressed person the "get over it"?
Many people here had no life outside the org. They will never fully recover and they need support. If you have nothing positive to share than maybe you should go to a different site.

My dad's email response to my UN and Blood Issue questions.
by Pioneer Spit...oh, i mean Spirit ini always thought that my dad was a smart man, that he still had his common sense, but now i see that's not true.
and for some stupid reason, this has really got to me tonight.
i'm sharing the content of this discussion so that maybe someone else can see the ignorance of this horrible religion of people who cannot really love because their evil bible won't let them.

I am soo sorry! This is basically the response I am getting from my Dad, a well respected elder and a man with a genius IQ. Ask your dad if an individual form his cong. bacame associated with the UN would he then say: SO WHAT? If the Society can get away with "playing footsie" with the UN than what can an individuall get away with? "What's good for the goose is good for the gander".
Take care

What is the WTS up to?
by headmath ini was thinking last night that the wts is acting suspicious like.
remenber the letter a few months ago to have emergency supplies ready and contact numbers ect.
then the end of religion tract, then the km on blood.

My take on the emergency letter is that it was the result of finding themselves unprepared for "Katrina". It was the biggest catastrophe they have ever responded to in the US and they saw need for improvement.

Cover Letter and Letter of Disassociation.
by AK - Jeff ini am forced to either accept df'ing without any defense [i clearly have none against charges of apostasy], or to at least 'speak my mind' one last time as i exit, with a hope of perhaps helping others to 'wake up'.. to that end - i have elected to send a letter of da to the elders - but more importantly - a copy of it, with a cover letter, to several families in the congregation.
most of these things never have a positive result, i know.
but at least i have attempted in this way to give a little defense for my position.

Jeff: I feel for you and envy you at the same time. Your mixed emotions may be painful but you must be experiencing a great sense of relief as well. I, for one, feel smothered and claustrophobic. I fear loosing my cool and blurting out something I can't take back at each meeting I attend.
Take each day at a time, give yourself room to grieve and heal and enjoy the rest of your life.

Was Being A Witness, All THAT Bad???
by minimus ini mean, you could've been made to be an islamic fundamentalist or something, right?

High points: having instant friends when you move to a new area, high trust factor(most witnesses are honest), high morals
Low points: having my childhood stolen from me, not having the freedom to chose not to be a witness w/o serious repercussions, restictions on education and free thinking, hypocrisy at high levels, having to believe and go along with everthing or else.
Summary:Not so good...
