I made a point of ignoring bethelites. The ones I knew growing up were conceited and stuck up, so I wouldn't give them the time of day.

for the ladies
by sspo indid all of you "sisters" when you were single and growing up in the congregation .
always dream about marrying a bethelite or encouraged to marry one.
since they were viewed as "gods".. i remember many years ago single sisters constantly took trips to bethel with the hope .

A quick question:
by Vinny ini disassociated one year ago.
no meetings, no memorial no nothing since then.
there was one jw young man that talked to me continuously and who also lived right next door, 25 yrs old, a best friend of my step-son, (we all fished on my boat at least a half dozen times together).

The visitation idea is a good one. If they are not having one, just go to the funeral and stand in the back. It's about showing your respect for your friend, forget everybody else.

So I talked to my sister last night
by SixofNine inthat shouldn't be so remarkable that it deserves a topic of it's own, but hey, i used to be a jehovah's witness, and she is still one.
it was a nice, normal conversation, the real one.
the imaginary one i'd had earlier, while in the shower, involved harsh words, almost yelling, "yeah?!

So Smart you become an idiot.
by Sparkplug inhave you ever known people that are quite genius?
they amaze you with the intelligence they have and yet in everyday life they just do not have the brainpower that god gave a goose.
i married two of these type of people and i always had to wonder how things like the universe, god, science and quantum physics can be spoken with ease...and yet the simple things absolutely escape them.

Sparkplug: Some people are concrete thinkers, they see the world around them in a practical, detailed way. Others are intuitive, they see the "big picture" but not necessarily what's right in front of their face (I know, because I'm one of those). Neither way is right or wrong, just different. You might want to check out: Humanmetrics.com, and take their personality test. It's based on the theories of Carl Jung and Myers & Briggs. Read the profiles of the other personalities as well (there are a total of 16). You may be able to pick out the personalities of your ex's and get some insight.
From reading some of you posts, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you are an ESFP. I think you ex's may have been NT's. I'm and ENFJ. When you go to Humanmetrics you'll know what I'm talking about. Let me know what you find out.

I've only been here since July, so I can't relate to the changes some of you have mentioned. I'm glad this is no longer a tough, scary place. I would not be here if it were. Fading form the WT is hard enough. I come here to be in the company of those who have been disillusioned like me, not to argue. It's OK not to agree on everything, but we don't need to be judgemental.

Just bought a NIV- whose name should I call on, Jesus or Jehovah?
by becca1 ini'm reading romans currently and as a life long witness and nwt reader i've always read romans 10:13 as "anyone calling on the name of jehovah will be saved'.
niv says "jesus" and the context seems to suppoet this quite clearly.
could anyone please comment on this??

oneacruse: I meant "lord" not Jesus. But it seemed obvious it was referring to Jesus. My typo, sorry. And I have NIV from 02.

Need advice from elders, former elders and anyone else for that matter.....
by nonamegiven inok, i've been df'd for 5 months or so now and i'm getting ready to write a letter requesting reinstatment.
i'm assuming something like "i know jah has already forgiven me so now i"m asking you imperfect sinners to forgive me my sins and give me my life back please".
wouldn't work.

A vision from God! What if there is another book of the Bible to be written
by free2beme inif john was privy to a vision of this time period in revelations, as the witnesses claim.
perhaps it would go something like this ... i set there in a vision of the night and i looked around me and i was in the calm of days, and all was perfect.
people were standing around talking, children were playing and smiles were on their faces.

A Letter from a disfellowshipped JW
by reneeisorym inthere was a disfellowshipped jw that came to the witness now for jesus convention in pennsylvania.
we all tried to show him the error of the jw way but he is just so blinded that he couldn't understand what the problem is with jws (can you believe it?!
) we tried until we were blue in the face and it seemed that with every step we went forward with him one day, we went back two the next.
