Just wondering if anyone else had the collection of kingdom melodies on tape or cd and if you ever listened to them?I ordered the whole set of 9 CDS 2 yrs ago and donated over £100.00 for them!!Was just thinking i could have bought a nice winter coat with that!I used to play them at home all the time, even in the car or when we had the group meeting at our house.I used to love one particular song cos it had a full orchestra and would play it over and over again. Some of them were pretty cheesy though - one song was sung in opera style but not the words she she 'ahd' it all the way through - horrible! Was anyone else as sad as me and did you actually pay for them?I regret it now cos they're all in the attic and can't bear to use them ever again.

JW Weddings
by Jeffro inat every jw wedding i ever went to, the celebrant has always said without fail that "the bride and groom have requested that no rice or confetti be thrown".. is this spiel used everywhere?
is it actually a request of the bride and groom, or is it just bombastically imposed by the elders (i.e.
a lie)?.

Yep this was announced at our wedding, but i was originally told we could'nt have confetti as it was pagan, which i found embarrassing on the day as my non jw family brought a load with them and they must have felt really stupid when it was announced. I was married within a yr of being baptised and i didn't have a clue about jw weddings or my family and they received no offers of help even from my husbands jw family. I was also told it would be frowned on if i didn't get married at the k hall (i'd have preferred a registry office) I was also told :
No discos
No barn dance
No alcohol
Not too many non jws or it would be too 'worldly' and the jws would'nt be able to go
The result was a crappy wedding and my dad getting mad about certain things ie blessing over food cos he said HE provided it all not God, and him telling me my wedding was a waste of time and money and he wanted nothing to do with it. I still can't look at my photos now, they are in the attic somewhere!lol
Strange i could have a veil (so long as i didn't put it over my face) and wedding ring but can't have a few bits of paper chucked over my head! (also as i didn't have an evening reception alot of family and friends were'nt invited so that was hard too cos i felt so bad)

OMG Trev in hospital now!
by fullofdoubtnow intrev (dedpoet) experienced breeathing difficulties during the night, and i had to call for an emergency ambulance.
he was kept in overnight, and is still there under observation.
he was conscious and breathing normally when i left him around 30 minutes ago, having been breathing through an oxygen mask earlier.

District Assembly Games
by *jeremiah* ini left the jw's when i was 17, so most of these games were played during teenage years.. here are some things i remember doing with my friends during the assembly:.
1. the last clap.
after a brothers talk or when "new light" emerged and the entire stadium would erupt with clapping we would see if one of us could be the very last person in the entire stadium to clap.. 2. the laugh game.

Me and my friend used to play 'spot the gorgeous brother' game and spent the whole time giving them marks out of ten (i was always a sucker for a man in a smart suit so my first assembly was like heaven!), after i was married i just played it in my head!
We'd also play spot the sleeping brothers game - there'd always be at least one near you snoring and it would be so funny when he'd wake up and look around and check no one had noticed!
The rest of the time we'd look out for the tartiest sisters dress competition, there were always a few contenders for that one.
The last couple i went to though i'd say i wasn't feeling well and go and listen to it in the car on the radio! Then i would'nt have to talk to any of them either.
Now i come to think of it i probably only used to actually hear about 10% of the entire assembly oops!

I have several favorites but i especially like D&G Light Blue at the moment
I also like Davidoff Cool Water (and the cheaper alternative which is similar which is Body Shops Oceanous)
CK Be
Pleasures
Clinique Happy (in winter)
Body Shop White Musk and Moonstone if i've run out of the above!
I don't know what my husband wears cos i let him buy the avon ones or body shop when there's offers on - its not worth spending money on his cos he uses half a bottle at a time - smells like a tarts boudoir!

What did you throw out when u became a JW?
by dobbie init really pigs me off now when i think back to what i was told to get rid of when i was studying.my collection of stephen king books, my new madonna like a prayer record that i loved, my alice cooper and guns and roses album.
i was even told not to listen to classical music because some of the composers led such debauched lives!also any film with an 18 certificate was a nono in case others were stumbled - even though i have seen other jws reading stephen king books and watching 18 cert films and my husband had the complete madonna collection!and of course depeche modes 'personal jesus' song which i loved.
and my lost boys album and video cos it was about vampires.i was just wondering what sort of things were you told you should get rid of and why?

Juni and Sunspot
Gypsytart - Morten Harket?I've been there!!!
If we added up the monetary value of all the things we chucked it would be a colossal amount - but the emotional cost is far greater isn't it.
