A couple of months ago, a month after i d'ad i let my sis in law take my young son to a witness gathering as his jw school friends were going to be there. He came back confused, asking if he could go to the meetings but not with 'this family' meaning me and his dad. I asked him if someone had been talking to him about it and he said that his grandmother had been there asking wouldn't he like to go along to the meetings with his cousin, etc , i thought it was pretty bad to try to get him thinking he wants to go to meetings without his parents when he's only four yrs old, and neither myself or his dad was present with him. He said others mentioned meetings too. Luckily she never asks to see him and my other child doen't even know her, but i have told my husband i would never trust them alone with him, and thankfully he's agreed with me. I do let him go to my sis i laws but her child comes to us too occasionally but i'm pretty sure my child would tell me if anything was said. At the end of the day i'd say go with your instincts, it is a hard one, because most of them can't be trusted, they think they are saving their lives so will take any opportunity to get to them, but maybe they could have supervised visits if you don't want to cut them outand that way you will know whats being said.

Let Kids see Dub Grandparents or?
by brunnhilde inmy mom and dad love my son, but i also know because of the depth of their brainwashing, they won't be respectful of my parenting (as i've asked them) and will try to "plant seeds" with him.
he's only 7, loves his grandma and papa very much and is easily confused and distressed when he gets conflicting info.
since we left the dubs, we've had a couple different run-ins with my parents trying subtle and not so subtle means to get at my son, or more accurately, get at me.

How polite are you?
by JH inoften i'm following someone into a building and entering the same door, and most of the times, the person in front won't even try to keep the door open so that it wont close in my face.
knowing that someone is right behind me, i'll even wait a second or two and hold the door open for that person.
i guess it has to do with being well educated.

I'm always polite, thank you very much for asking. Please have a good day. (there that was polite wasn't it) No. i do hold doors open, and am polite behind the wheel of the car, i used to get up on the bus and let little old ladies have my seat. However when i was pregnant and the bus was full no one ever got up for me, one woman wouldn't even move her shopping off the only free seat - but i did'nt say much cos i'm too polite lol!

Well i was only saying to my husband a couple of months ago that it would not surprise me if they wanted to kick inactive ones out, so i can believe this, and i've already warned my husband to be on guard! I've never seen it in any publications but it seems to be an unwritten rule that inactive ones are 'marked' and aren't invited out socially, but ones can get in touch to encourage them back. I've seen this happen to us, when i was in but we were inactive even his own mother stopped inviting us round to their house, and they only ever got in touch to ask why we weren't at the meetings etc. And his step dad is a fanatical elder, so he would always act on the information given to them via whatever means. They would just try to justify it to themselves and say that they're doing more 'separating' work.

I really like this site. When i first googled jws on internet the first one was a not very friendly chat forum which put me off for a bit and made me think the jws were right about apostates, then i tried again and found the Beyond one, and it restored my faith in apostates!lol i think i found this site via that website by clicking on a link it had to this one.

My mum has a biography on Cliff R and it says that a new member of The Shadows called Brian Locking was a jw and after Cliff's dad died had many discussions with Cliff, Hank Marvin and Cliff's mum and Hank and his mum went on to become jws but a friend who was concerned with his involvement with the jws got him to talk to a religious teacher, which eventually led to his christian faith.

Hope it all goes well, how exciting!Just make sure your gf knows where the nearest loo is cos after all that water you have to drink and then the ultrasound instrument being pressed near your bladder she's gonna need it!
Usually they will tell you the sex of the baby at the 20wk scan when it is more developed 'down below', though its still not 100%.Will you both want to know the sex!my hubby didn't but as i had to have a scan every wk and he wasn't always there i found out at 23wks and then had to hide it for another14wks! not easy!
Congratulations by the way!
