there is a website www.cookingbynumbers.com which is good if you haven't much cash to go out food shopping and lots of useless looking basics in your cupboards/fridge, you put in what items you have and it bring up different recipes using those items.

Interesting snapshots from the current WT Page
by Mincan ini can tell you what post-traumatic stress disorder is.
it is the intense feelings of anguish you experience after a terrible experience.
say having your entire life stolen from you.

Its on the watchtower website i just read the one on self harm. Bl**dy idiots, i got baptised and married too soon and spent the first two years cutting my arms, the thing is i was fine until i joined up and got wed! Then to have my new hubby saying i was mental and had satan in me etc, plus mil telling everyone i was a demented psychopath didn't actually help much. I had no help from anyone i was just avoided as a mental case. Also apparantly it was 'pagan' as its mentioned in the Bible as some pagans cutting themselves or something, well that really helped make me feel better! At least although i don't agree with all of the article cos i didn't do it because of outside pressures, it was because i was so trapped and unhappy, at least the are mentioning the fact so they might act kinder towards ones in similar situations, maybe..

When i was a jw i always gave gifts, usually i gave them to my non jw family in january (just after xmas lol), from our holidays and on their anniversary. We also bought the hubbys jw family holiday gifts and anniversary ones, but the year before last after i spent (wasted) nearly £100 on his mother and step father, and i didn't even get a thanks and realised that they never even gave us a card for ours ever, we decided to stop. We used to buy our son toys constantly though (i could actually open a toy shop with all the stuff we have)
Now what with doing birthdays xmas easter anniversaries etc we have actually been broke since last xmas, can't believe how much it all costs lol!

no apart from a friend who would sometimes buy the kids something, hubbys mother never bought them anything. We used to have a present day for our two and sis in laws two as our anniversaries were 2 days apart, we gave each other something too. This year though cos i'm d'ad i guess they got the kids present each but didn't even give us a card, so we just gave the kids a present back and i gave them a card to try to make them feel guilty lol!

SadEmo i post on moneysaving expert, hubby loves Martin Lewis hes always reading his books.
Grow your own if poss saves money. Also plan your meals for the week stick to the list, batchcook and freeze different meals.
When we used to shop at Asda they will usually accept any coupons even if your'e not buying that product, sometimes we get away with it at Tescos as well.
Go online to all the samples/freebie sites and get perfume samples sent, you get to try loads and don't have to pay for them. Same with skincare, shampoos too.
Get a cashback credit card, put all your shopping/expenses on it and pay it back in full (have to be disciplined!) then you are getting money back for nothing, we got over a hundred pounds last year.
Keep checking the bank rates for savings accounts, maybe go to an online one for better interest rates.
Use search engines on computer to save money and buy online
Sometimes its cheaper to order groceries online even with delivery charge as you are not tempted to buy extra.
To save money on food, try going down from say top make of something to shops own brand, quite often they are made at the same factory anyway.

Fading? What's up?
by arker ini was a jw, finally saw my chance and wrote a letter to the elders saying how bad i am and how i don't want to meet to discuss it and to df me if you want.
that was the end of it for me.
my question is if you know you are "fading" you are already gone so why not make the leap?

well i d'ad but am lucky that i have a great non jw family to help me through. If i had grown up kids in it though i would probably still be in (weakly), even now i worry about my little boy growing up becoming a jw and shunning me! Hubby has been fading as his family are in on one side, though they have never been close or nice to him, just a bunch of users. I can see the time when he will leave as hes currently v bitter and angry at me getting shunned etc. He says though that he doesn't see why he should go to them, let them waste time if they want and come to him. Anyway i faded on and off for years but in the end couldn't live a lie anymore and was told several times i was a selfish murderer and my kids would die at big A cos of me if i left, that was the decider as i don't take kindly to emotional blackmail.
As for others that fade i can totally see why they would, the thought of leaving it for good and shunning is so hard emotionally and the reality for me was'nt as scary as i thought but i still have very bad days. If they can't handle being in it to keep touch with their loved ones or to help others out of it i really commend them for it cos it must actually be v hard and really horrible for them.

What Do You Do for Work / Career?
by BlackPearl ini've been on the board for quite a while now and was wondering, what do my fellow jwdr's do for work, employment or career?
me, i'm in probably one of the most hated careers in america right now.
(not gonna tell you what it is either) but how about you, what do you do to earn a little coin?.

What is Your Scariest Experience in Life?
by R.F. ini'd have to say mine was when i was at the wee age of 8.. my siblings and i were out swimming with some friends and their parents.
what i remember mostly was that i got seperated very quickly from the rest of the group and drifted into the deeper end.
i found it getting more and more difficult to swim with each passing second.

LearningToFly i went throught that as well, one minute i was happily pregnant, then the next had a team come rushing in saying 'this babys got to come out now!' it was all so quick, i'd never been in hospital for anything before, didn't know if he'd make it as he was premmie, hubby was kicked out of operating theatre i just remember as they were gong to knock me out i was making these really stupid noises cos i was so scared!
The scariest time was when he had just turned one, me and hubs were doing our dinner and he's just had his, he was fixated on the ceiling and i took no notice at first but then he wouldn't respond to me, started to go blue around the mouth and floppy. Yanked him out of chair held him upside down and whacked his back. No longer blue but it was like he was locked away inside himself. Jumped in the car to casualty, longest journey of my life. They had the whole team working on him, had to ventilate him as he was hardly breathing, was transferred to a kids hospital at bristol, went to bed next morning at 5am, sure he was going to die, was in intensive care. They phoned me at 6am and said he was awake, as soon as he saw us he gave me the most wonderful smile and though his hands were tied down tried to clap them. That was the BEST moment in my life, he'd been expected to die that night. Home after three days of tests but no one knows what it was. Most likely some sort of fit where he went into a daydream but can't explain the breathing problems.

Are You Happy With What you've discovered in Life After being a JW ?
by flipper inmy life personally has taken a much more positive turn after leaving the religion.
less stress to be having nights taken up with meetings droning on.

Yes, i wasn't brought up a witness so it has been relatively easy for me to take up the 'old ways', celebrations etc. But i am more content with life just now than i have ever been, my hubby is now totally supportive and more anti jws than me, i have two lovely boys who are free to choose their own paths in life and not be dictated to and we are expecting another next year who will never know what its like to step into a kingdom hall. I can make what friends i like, go where i want and do what i want without negative comments, i can concentrate on putting my family and our happiness and security first. Sounds like you are really happy Flipper, really pleased for you.
