  What does the average Witness know?

  i have to wonder what the average witness today knows?

  i guess they are under orders not to talk to anyone that might actually be able to inform them of any facts that are negative or unflattering to the society, but what have they found out anyway, through whatever means, even the publications?.

  1. do they know that russell got a lot of dates from the measurements of pyramids, including 1914?

  I disagree with you on this point, Sirona. You are being too generous of the JW mindset. Waiting can sometimes be beneficial, productive thought and actions can still go on while we wait.

  For the JWs, this is a time of STAGNATION. All lives are on hold (except for 'spiritual' goals [8>]) and good JWs do virtually NOTHING constructive with their lives, they rarely even donate to charities for God's sake (why help people who are going to die soon at the big A?).

  It is a tragedy of immense proportions - six million people in a coma of their own volition.

  Oven ready chicken

  an israeli scientist has bred a featherless chicken which he says will revolutionise the poultry industry.. .

  that pic isn't very good - they showed them walking about on the news and they looked just like an about-to-be-cooked chicken on legs.. wierd!

  Yeah I saw that news item too, though the ones on TV looked a lot more anaemic than this one - it looks already cooked!

  Anyway, they were the most disgusting sight I ever saw; made me want to turn veggy.

  If you were leaving your partner...

  if you were leaving your husband or wife and you knew that your leaving would cripple them financially, what would you do?

  if you were leaving the family home and you knew that your actions would mean your spouse couldn't make the payments, would you offer to help?.

  am i being unreasonable in expecting that if someone is going to destroy you and leave then they might be considerate enough to not also take away your home?

  When two people put all their eggs in one basket, so to speak, one of the parties usually takes a back seat financially to help the team.

  If the partner with higher financial potential leaves then it's not fair on the remaining partner to be left in that position, especially if they've made sacrifices for the 'marriage'. (Both partners have legal rights in the case of a marriage - check with a lawyer)

  What I'm trying to say is that even if a relationship breaks down it doesn't negate the responsibilities undertaken at the beginning. Both partners have a duty to ensure that the other is not left destitute because of a breakup. It is the least someone could do, even if they can't live together anymore, to provide some finincial assistance in the case of real need.

  this post is mainly for non_trias_theos - but any of you who are jw's feel free to respond.

  i know this should probably be posted on the bible research board, but being that "non" is a newbie i wasn't sure he'd check there.. question - where is the great crowd?.

  read the verses (revelation 7:9) in revelation that refer to the great crowd (or multitude) and tell me where they are in those verses.

  Personally, I WOULD steal the literature if I could, and then destroy it, like the police do with terrorist weapons - to prevent it from causing harm to the unsuspecting public.

  Do you beleive in God, the bible or religion?

  i'm pretty sure this question has probably been asked before but i'd like to put it out here and see what the responses are.

  my doubts about the bible probably began maybe 6 or 7 years ago, they were very small ones however and i managed to supress them for quite a while.

  however certain events in my life would make those events resurface.

  Once I did, passionately, then I had a real downer on the whole thing, for similar reasons to you Leander.

  Now I’m not sure.

  I certainly I need more evidence for the existence of a God that cares about us than a funny feeling. Yet I know that evidence is never going to come, so I guess on reflection I don’t believe in God.

  Wish I did though, life and the universe was so much more cosy with God looking after things.

  Unfortunately we don't have a choice about what we believe.

  I've heard of Elders doing that in the congregation; resigning from the platform and telling everyone why the WBTS sucks, but I've never heard of it being done at an assembly.

  Wouldn't that be fun!
