  Look for internet bashing at district assemblies.

  i have no doubt in my mind that the society will bash the internet with a part at the district assemblies.

  the reason i say this is because if you look at the worldwide reports there has been a decline in publishers in the more industrialized countries who have access to the internet.. some of the brothers and sisters are finding out the contradictions that we hold in regards to some of our teachings and the constant change of views on issues of voting, blood, donations, new light ect.... for example do any of you know that in bulgaria you will not be disfellowshipped if you take a blood transfusion.

  yes that's right, you will not be disfellowshipped because the society signed a document with the european commission promising not to take sanctions against any of it's members if they choose to take blood, in exchange for legal status in that country.

  Actually, it gets weirder. Taking a blood transfusion (and not begging for forgiveness afterwards) became a disfellowshipping offence in 1961.

  However, since the Bulgaria agreement it has become WBTS policy NOT to disfellowship. BUT this is not written down in any society literature - a letter was sent to COs and read to the elders (I think you can find a copy on http://www.ajwrb.org/basics/breaking.shtml).

  So you will no longer be disfellowshipped for having a blood transfusion but the rank and file have not been told!!!!!

  However, the punishment is that you will have disassociated yourself. And we all know there is really no difference except to say that, technically, the Society has not applied any sanctions! You have removed yourself! Sneaky eh?

  What Would A Jehovah's Witness Romance Novel Be Like?

  i was reading in the religion page of the newspaper today that the mormons are enjoying romance novels in which descriptions of the characters' sex lives are limited to little more the first kiss--- that could happen after they are engaged to be married........any ideas of what a jw romance novel might be like?

And the way he had so gently counselled her when once when she had worn a dress which went slightly above her knees…so wise. And the way that he had helped her to overcome her masturbation problem by constantly being there for her to talk about the problem…so loving.
  And now, here he was, inviting her to actually share time in field service with him…with that enormous book bag of his. She reached out, at his invitation, and ran her delicate hand over the rough leather. He twitched slightly. “Careful, it was very expensive”
  “It’s…big, isn’t it?”
  “Well, I can get all the latest mags and books and pamphlets in it, as well as the NWT of the Holy Scriptures”
  Jane pulled her hand away, and rested it upon her own bag. John watched, fascinated.

  ?Do JW only see the Negative Side of Life?

  both my parents are staunch jw for about 30 yrs.

  i have never been, and thankfully neither my three brothers.

  First, Hi there azaria!

  Can you please allow ME to vent for a while...in future please use a bigger font, my tired old eyes strained to read your post!

  However, your post was well worth the effort, it was well written and an insighful comment on the life-attitude of many JWs.

  I think what you say is generally true, especially of the older JWs. They are constantly trying to justify what they believe - that the world is sinking deeper into a moral and spiritual quagmire. Therefore, anytime something bad happens they jump all over it and make a big issue because they WANT/NEED bad things to happen. Acknowledging something good almost seems to them to show a lack of faith in the prophecies of the WBTS. They expect people outside of their religion to be evil (worldly) and look for evidence to support this expectation. Of course, there are bad people in the world so they don't have to look far. But as you say they seem to dwell unnecessarily on such things - this makes them very depressing people to be around (my JW mother-in-law is a prime example!) The sad thing is they completely miss the fact that the vast majority of people in the world are good honest people just trying to do their best in life.

  When I have JWs visit I do my best to be upbeat, praising good deeds of worldy people, and how the world seems to be getting better every day - it drives em nuts!

  The UN and armageddon

  i need some reassurance here !.

  i spoke to my aunt the other day who has been out of the borg for about 20 years now.

  she told me that she is really worried about world events and feels that this is it now, the un is going to crumble and then armageddon is going to come.

  Why are we surprised when wars and other crises happen? It's all part of the rich tapestry of human existence.

  There will be NO fulfillment of WBTS prophecies of doom, any more than the prophecies of Nostradamus were fulfilled.

  World events are controlled by people, not unseen spirit forces. There is no deeper meaning behind current events other than 'shit happens'

  In a year's time the world will have moved on to another, entirely different, crisis and JWs will be saying that THAT is the precurser to whatever. They live in a constant cycle of anticipation and disappointment, anticipation and disappointment...

  Well, I've got off that particular merry-go-round and I suggest you do too. Now just get yourself an ice-cream, relax, and let others get themselves dizzy if they want to.

  The life they stole from me

  i have just come across this website and was amazed to read to many similar experiences to what i went through with the 'loving' congregations of jehovah's witnesses.

  i have now been gone 4 years but after reading some experiences i realise that the pain they caused still remains.

  i am now quite angry at the way they control your life and brainwash you - i am so glad i finally saw what was happening and got out.

  Welcome to the board Sipho!

  Just one word of warning...finding places like this, and finding out the truth about 'the truth' can sometimes bring out an uncontrollable feeling of anger. That anger CAN be self-destructive. I know that I went through a period of all-consuming bitterness towards the WBTS for the life they had taken away from me. It took a long time to 'chill' and before then the anger I felt was unbalanced and unhealthy - consuming more of my time and mental/emotional energy than it should have. Sure, be angry, but don't give the WBTS too much emphasis in your life anymore.

  Get your life back and enjoy it!
