Harry Potter has not been mentioned specifically but looking at this comment in the October 15th 2002 Watchtower, page 11 it is hard to see what else they could be refering to:

Harry Potter Versus The Watchtower.
by SpannerintheWorks indoes anybody have any wbts literature references that criticize, condemn or warn against harry potter books and films?.
you see, my wife and family (jw) "love" harry potter, and so it would be great to be able to show them how absurd the watchtower society is for condemning harry potter, if indeed it does.
i am assuming the wbts would disapprove of such demonic witchcraft and the like that is contained in the harry potter publications!.

As Valis said, the July KM is now available:

Of course, the WBTS never claim to be God's prophets but page 3 of the KM has this vomit inducing comment regarding the new Circuit Assembly programme:

That Generation sheeesh !!!!!
by johnathanseagull intaken that this a statement taken from the official site of the dubs, (checked today), do you think .
a) they are typically misleading the public?
a) they haven't got around to changing it yet ( was this site set up after the 1995 change) or .

Yep, some pesky 'old light' cluttering up the system. I wouldn't imagine it will stay there long now. I bet the Bethel monitors for this site will be putting in a report very soon.
On the other hand, many old-timers found the 'new light' very difficult to swallow so they might be deliberately causing some confusion until the old dears die off.

More Notes from the Astrodome---Saturday II
by 95stormfront init's quite draining to have your "bs" detector running on high alert for 4 straight hours, so, by the time the clapping was done for all the baptism candidates filing out to change clothes, i'd managed to move it's setting to low power standby.
after a recharge of sandwiches, chips, washed down by now room temperature soda, i decided that i'd take a walk around the general area.
inside the perimeter area of the astrodome, jw's young and old had filed out and filled the area.

"honey, it truly was EVERYTING I expected it to be."
Nice one.
Insightful and personal round-up of the day, I really enjoyed reading it - thanks.
The amount of venom and time directed at apostates and the Internet is remarkable. We've really got 'em scared!

I checked the WBTS CD but there's nothing at all about Father's Day unless you go back to 1956, which is not on the CD.
I guess celebrating it must be a conscience matter. It was only instituted in 1910 and has no pagan origin.
Anybody know for sure what the society's stand is?

Any here really enjoy going out in service?
by freedom96 ini hated it with a passion!
who enjoyed it??.
i can possibly imagine someone who's home life was miserable, and it was an excuse to get out of the house.

Surely you jest?
Hated it... Loved the rain on weekend mornings.
But...all the bethelite lurkers will say that that is because we were all apostates from the begining anyway.
I'm a lot more enthusiastic now about preaching the truth about the 'truth' than when I was a dub.

I will always remember him as Captain Hornblower...brilliant. (cough, cough)

What questions would you ask a LOYAL JW, when/if you get a chance ???
by run dont walk in.
well, my family has started to call me out of the blue, (after years of no contact).. so, get your thinking caps on.. what questions are the best to throw at loyal jw's, to show they are wrong, or at least get them thinking ????
?

I agree with Minimus, be subtle.
What about asking them, because you have been away so long, for an update on the CURRENT thinking on such issues as 'the generation'; who is the king of the South now that the USSR is so weak?, what about the political entity that will attack JWs just before Armagedon ('no speculation' now but used to be UN).
They will be pleased that you are taking an interest but in reality they will be exposed to the fact that 'truth' is ever changing and may realise that something is screwy with that.

Letter Read Last Night
by Intuit39 inhey bro, i just thought it may interest you to know that they read a letter last night describing how they need to build a new printing facility up at patterson that will be the size of two assembly halls.
they will be getting all new printing machines to be shipped from all over the world, and they will need many volunteers for the project to be completed by january 2004. and we should all realize that this is going to be at a tremendous cost, the buildings alone should cost about 60,000,000 dollars.
please start praying about what we can do, yada, yada, yada.

JWs are essentially survivalists at heart - people who believe that a serious calamity is about to occur and only they they have the foresight to prepare for it.
And no survivalist worth his salt would ever go near a prime target like NY.
911 was a wake-up call to the GB and they don't want to be in the heart of 'the world' when big J shoves His dagger in.
