Not really. Paul, for example, confirmed the generally agreed perception of that day regarding Cretains that they were "liars, injurious wild beasts, and unemployed gluttons," which is why he advised Titus to "keep on reproving them with severity."
Actually, Paul was repeating Epiminides' Paradox where Epiminides, who was a Cretian said "All Cretians are liars."

Hi Randy,
I live in southern Maine. Swan's Island is a 40 minute ferry ride out of Bass Harbor. It's not near any good sized city in Maine (Not that we have that many, anyway.) :)
I can't imagine that they would be putting an assembly hall out there. Please keep us informed of any additional information you have on this. I make take a ride up there in the near future. Any excuse for a good motorcycle ride.

my personal mission is this:.
to demonstrate to leavers that it is perfectly possible for an ex-witness, df'd, da'd, whatever, to live a full and happy life away from the wtbts.. to enjoy the company of friends.
Those are MAINE-ly my thoughts on the matter, too.

Henry Casper used to be our circuit overseer. He has an identical twin (I forget his first name) brother that lives in northern Maine. I saw him at a KM school wearing a name tag that said in big letters "I'm not Henry"

"thrilling convention"...only took notes of comments / observations not including:.
- typical "gloom and doom" (real heavy since 9/11).
- "do more" (especially as some one of a kind robotic drones demonstrate).
Bob and proandcon, I have many relatives in Portland and Bridgton... when I was 7, we went to one of the assemblies in Portland. It was the first time I came face to face with apostates. They had signs and were chanting something. I was so afraid of them!! lol
Terafera, that would likely have been Steve Butt (yep, that's his real name). Steve was an elder in Portland who left and took up picketing the conventions at the Civic Center. He and his wife came into the convention one year and sat right in front of my wife and I. A couple young men, obviously attendants with their badges removed, positioned themselves nearby and kept a close eye on them. When they left, the attendants searched the area around their seats very carefully.
Back in about 1996, I was at a Steve Hassan lecture and noticed Steve Butt in that audience. When I went over and introduced myself, he seemed a bit ill at ease. He introduced the woman that was with him as his wife, but she didn't look at all like his wife when he picketed the conventions.
A few years ago, I found out why. I was sitting at my desk with the TV on mute, talking with an exJW friend of mine when I noticed Steve Butt on the television. I turned up the sound and found out what the show was about - polygamy. Yes, Steve had become a polygamist and married two more women. He has since moved to Utah. The last convention I went to was in 1996 and it was in Portland. I lasted through Saturday morning, couldn't stand any more and left for home at lunchtime.

as i read all the stories of people that have made it out of the wt and all the books on personal experiences in the wt there is one thing that i have been wondering about and would find quite interesting:.
how many of the wts very own books-- the very words of jehovah they claim-- are/were written by now apostates?.
for instance we know that the esteemed aid to bible understanding was written by ray franz.
How many of the WTs very own books-- the very words of Jehovah they claim-- are/were written by now apostates?

He also said it attempts to "readjust (the) thinking" of those who post material critical of the religion on the Web.
I always knew the WTS was monitoring "apostate" sites. Now were have a clear admission from their own spokesman.
