NOT funny. Would you like us to laugh if you choke on an M & M? As for the decline in the battered women's shelters, number one, it's due to funding cuts and number two, it's because more women are being outright killed by male predators now than a few years ago. So, happy new year, you a-hole!

My suicide attempt yesterday...
by Gregor injust when you think life could not possibly kick you in the teeth any worse something like james browns passing blind sides you.
after listening to "i feel good" several times, including a half hearted attempt to dance to it, i swallowed an entire package of m&ms and drank a half pint of brandy.
fortunately my wife found me in time and forced me to drink a scotch and soda.

What do you think the biggest danger to the end of mankind or earth is?
by free2beme ini love watching shows on the history channel, discovery channel and so on.
they had this program on the other day, on the ten biggest threats to mankind and the planet earth.
surprisingly, none of the items on the list were god destroying mankind or the earth, so that must be further evidence that the witnesses were wrong, go to college now and retire.

It will be a virus that will wipe out 40% or more of the population, similar to what the Black Death did in the 1340's. It will be spread fast in over-populated countries in Asia and the third world and spread to the US, Canada, Europe, Australis, etc. via air transport. All the health organizations in the world won't be able to come up with a vaccine against it - once they realize what' s happening, until 40% of their populations are dead. "Western" societies may have marginally lower death rates due to better hygiene practices.
Imagine a world with 40% of 6.1 billion dead: 2.44 billion dead. We wouldn't even be able to keep up with processing the dead. If you think I'm full of it, I suggest an excellent and fast read, "The Great Mortality" by John Kelly. A very scary book, because everything that happened in it is TRUE, as recounted in the diaries of eyewitnesses and public records kept at the time and mathematical extrapolations therefrom.

Answers to donating JW's about contributions, why not?
by restrangled inafter reading another post it came to me that any corporation, even non profit has to answer about funds collected and spent... which needs to be tallied by an outside accounting firm and made public for all to see.. i was the president of a large condo complex and every dollar spent, collected, etc., had to be accounted for and if there were any questions, i was available for answers.. so here is my question for the wbts,...why is it you feel you can collect, millions of dollars, perhaps billions and not answer to your contributors as to where this money went , where it was invested, what personnel recieved what, etc.
this needs to be answered by an outside firm that is nuetral and not sympathetic in anyway to your financial objectives.. do i think this will happen, no.
making the general public aware, priceless.. r.. r.. .

WTBTS in the United States is exempt from filing any kind of federal or state income tax returns. It is the law applying to religious charitable organizations and it's a big loophole waiting to be exploited by the unscrupulous. ALL churches incorporated as religious charitable organizations are also exempt from filing income tax returns - catholic, lutheran, episcopalian, baptist, mormon, etc. etc. This is not a scam, it's the federal law and until such time as the federal law is changed, NO religious charitable organization is required to file as much as an informational return.
Any "ordinary" U.S. corporation in which WTBTS owns shares is required to file an annual Federal Income Tax Return. I don't know if these returns are available online, they may be at EDGAR, I haven't checked. Keep in mind that as a shareholder, WTBTS is not entitled to a percentage of net income (if any) unless the corporation is a Sub-chapter S corporation, in which case net gains or losses are passed along to the shareholders, similar to a partnership.
The tax returns of corporations whose stock is held by WTBTS won't give you the information you want to know - about WTBTS's potential gains from holdings in such corporation. You can figure that out simply by keeping track of the share price of any publicly traded corporation in which WTBTS owns stock. If the corporation is privately held, then we don't have access to such information unless the corporation files reports with Hoover's, Dun & Bradstreet, etc., some of which information may be accessible to the public for free, but more likely you'd have to pay a fee to access financial information.

I'm sorry for your loss, Lola. If you cannot immediately change your living arrangements - that is, get the f'ing thief out of your place or you get out asap - then spring for a lock on your bedroom door and keep your purse in there - locked - at all times, even when you are home. As for the money, that's gone, you won't get it back unless the thief steals the sum from someone else. My belief is that the stolen money is long gone by now. Maybe you need to do an inventory of your place and see if anything else - clothes, jewelry, furniture and furnishings - is missing. If someone will go into your purse and take money out of a wallet, that same someone would have no compunction going through your jewelry box if you have one, going through your drawers and closet, etc.
Thieves come in all shapes, sexes and sizes - and they can be family and people we think of as "friends." It's a hard lesson learned, unfortunately. While you're busy getting rid of this so-called "friend" or relative from your living arrangements, protect yourself in the clinches, girlfriend, get that lock on your bedroom! If you share a bedroom, then get a lock on a closet somewhere in the house, and if you can't do that, get down to Office Depot and buy a lock-box for yourself and put your purse and valuables in it. It will be a little harder to get into than opening up your purse when no one is looking...

Similar to the thoughts of others here, someone who may not always agree with me, sometimes we fight, but I know in a pinch he or she will have my back, I don't have to think twice about that.

TIME Magazine Articles on Jehovah's Witnesses
by Wild_Thing inhas anyone ever posted about the tons of time magazine articles about the jws?
time has been around forever and has been a 'witness' (pardon the pun) to much of their history .. clear back to the 1930s.
go to the time website and search for yourself!

It doesn't bother me in the slightest that most people in the world at the times these articles were published in "Time" did not read them. What is the readership, today, of the most popular magazine in the world? Someone answer that off the top of their hat - who the hell knows? Whatever that number is, probably (being generous), about half that number read or have read "Time" magazine. I do know this: it is probably a number we would consider ridiculously small, nothing like 6.3 million as the JWs claim as their true faithful today.
The fact is, today with the advent of the internet the truth about "the truth" is out there, available for anyone with an internet connection or access to a public library or cafe that offers internet connection. it's a foregone conclusion - it's just a matter of time before the $$$ that fund the WTBTS dry up completely. I see coming during the next 3-7 years a complete liquidation of all Manhattan and New Jersey real estate holdings, as well as liquidation and sale of various "branch" office holdings throughout the world as the "Society" shrinks further and furrther into upstate New York. That will eventually go to the auction block too, in my opinion, because I predict there will be one, and then two, and then three, and then a flood of successful sexual assault verdicts against the WTBTS. Brothers in Africa will not be able to fund the amount of $$$ it will take to pay off the judgments. The WTBTS will go bankrupt. Hooray, hooray! I think I will see it in my lifetime. I'm 55.

Stick to the bare facts, "I hereby disassociate myself from this Congregation and the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society and no longer consider myself - and I wish to no longer be considered - as a Jehovah's Witness." Date it and sign it, end of story. They won't pay any attention to anything else, anyway.

Is the shunning over???
by bluesapphire inmy sister (e) has been shunning me for 5 years this past november.
it all started when i began to have doubts and she tried to "reason" with me from the scriptures.
but all that would end up happening is that i would make her have doubts (hmmmm, wonder why).. anyway, i felt a great loss when she stopped talking to me.

To have regained your sister is a wonderful thing. I am very happy for you. You know, despite what those a-holes in Brooklyn say, I think it really is true that love conquers all. Hooray for you and your sister. Smart women, too peas in a pod.
