yes, Jayhawk, I have always heard the same phrase, that it is a loving arrangement to assist the wayward person. Unfortunately, it does more damage than good in my experience. If you truly love someone and are concerned for their welfare, than you would continue to encourage them by word and deed, cutting them off from association does emotional damage which can cause some to go off the deep end from despair, three people I grew up with have committed suicide after being disfellowshipped. I don't think throwing people out who did something wrong but want to stay in the organization is very loving.

A Bad experience with JW is a permit for SIN?
by El Mariachi ini've been reading some sad experinces here... i dont see anyone talking about the bible... only how misserables the organization made their lives... ok ...so because of that...now i have permission to smoke marijuana and commit fornication?
this sounds pretty much like aa... and everybody having his/her personal "superior power" who is giving them the permit to do whatever they want...
i've been df for 4 years now and also dont agree with some jw teachings... why instead of blaming the wt for everything dont we look for the real truth in the bible and make things right.

EL Mariachi... no one is making you come here... is someone forcing you to read this board??? For many of us, this is the only contact with others who understand the emotional pain that comes with leaving the WTS and trying to make our own way and make our own decisions for the first time in our lives..if you don't agree or understand then take your leave.

Why all the hostility toward WTS?
by hambeak in.
i'm very new to this and please understand, but at one time or another most everyone here was a loyal and faithful witness.. if you disapproove of it or don't fit in as i don't.
why keep pounding at them it is like an obsession.. i would really like to know.

Because the WTS divides families... because I have left the society, my beloved daughter will not speak to me.. even when I had major surgery and was in the hospital, she would not even contact me to make sure that I was okay. I did everything I could to raise my children to be happy and healthy, how is it okay that a daughter will not contact her ill mother just because the WTS says you should not speak to a person who has left the organization?

Went to a Public Talk and WT Study, after about 5 yrs away.
by frankiespeakin init was boring,,snooze city, there were room for a bout 200 and they didn't have more than 40 in attendance very few youths mostly older ones(30 and beyound).
i didn't have a clue what the speaker was saying thank god i came a 1/2 late, those poor poor people that have to sit thru such mind numbing drival about how we are to treat people in the congregation and not to be jealous bla bla bla.
the wt the reader was drone the conductor brain dead and every body answered the wt by practically reading their answer word for word from the wt,, it was pitiful,,pitiful.

The Judicial Committee Has Been Formed
by LennyinBluemont inwell, the hard, rusty gears of theocratic justice has begun to turn, and the teeth have caught me.
for those of you who read my earlier threads, in february of 2005, a "sister" i had known for almost 30 years contacted me and wanted to know what i had learned in the years since i had faded.
after granting me full assurance of confidentiality, in writing, i disclosed to her the un scandal.

((((((((..and now, the elders are clearly supposed to ask all these personal questions so that they can determine what type of sexual sin you committed.))))))))))))))))) The elders ask all those "questions" so they can go home and fantasize about it!! I have known of several elders who while sitting on people's judicial committees were themselves visiting prostitutes, having affairs or where active pedophiles.

RE the "earning back of privileges"... I was publicly reproved in 1997, for having sex after being slipped something in my drink while on a date with a "worldly man". I went to all the meetings, went in regular field service and stopped my "worldly association" after that, I was very sincere about trying to make amends for my bad judgement, although I was allowed to comment after about 6 months, I was never told after that time that I could give talks or presentations or was considered again in good standing. By 2003, I didn't give a rats ass anyway about their opinion.

Were you a bathroom breaker?
by Mysterious ini swear my mother used to keep better track of my bladder than i did.
she'd sit me down occasionally for talks such as "i noticed you've been going to the bathroom a lot during the meetings lately maybe we need to cut down on what you drink on meeting nights" etc.
others would go 2 or 3 times a meeting and if i went twice a week i'd get a talk about it!

""I forgot how I used to wait until paragraph 9 of the wt. Then I knew I was half way done, and went to the bathroom""" Momofmany... that is hilarious, I usually waited til paragraph 7 or 8.

I went on a dinner date with "a really nice guy", only to find out mid-dinner that he has been dating someone for a year, they have been off and on lately, but that she called him back up today wanting to get back together, but he couldn't call her back yet because she was at work. Then why was he out with me? Uuuggggggggggggghhhhh!! So now I am doing my usual Sunday night activities... watching Greys Anatomy and on the internet.
