Have you ever had acupuncture? What else can I try for high blood pressure?
by dmouse ini had a bit of a shock last month when, in a routine check-up, my doc told me i had high blood pressure.. i can't remember what the reading was the first time but the next few days it was averaging 150/100.
not wanting to go on drugs for the rest of my life i decided to look at alternatives.
there are some chinese clinics in the town where i live so i tried one of those.. they recommended a course of herbal medicine and acupuncture.

I googled "Jehovahs Witnesses" and found Randy's Free Minds site first, then found this site. I first found it several years ago, but did not join til recently, I have never been on a discussion board before and was a little nervous about it at first.

Recommend a GOOD film - no snakes, planes or spandex superheroes.
by nicolaou init's been out a while and i know it's already been commented on here but i really enjoyed the village.
the creation of fear and the control that it allows must surely strike a chord.. recently i saw christian bale in the machinist.
bloody awesome!

An old movie I recommend: "Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb" this is a comedy from around 1963 or 1964.
Another old movie: "Young Frankenstein" by Mel Brooks... hysterical
A new movie: "The Lake House" with Sandra Bullock, a love story but with some substance, not too sappy

Did anyone see or do a random act of kindness today?
by okie46 intoday while unloading my groceries, i witnessed a random act of kindness... someone in a ford explorer was waiting for a car to leave a parking spot so they could pull in there, they had been waiting for several minutes when finally the car in that spot backed out and left.
before the person in the ford explorer could pull into the spot, a lady in a ford taurus pulled on into that parking space.
the person in the ford explorer who had been patiently waiting, just sat there, they didn't honk or flip the person off, then the lady in the ford taurus realized that the other vehicle had been waiting for that spot and backed out to find another spot, letting the guy who had been waiting have his spot.

What my week brought me
by Pistoff ini don't usuallypost about personal issues; i am still fading; besides, i was raised in a family that would say we were doing well even if our house was burning down.. for the last month i have been stressing about seeing family from the west coast; my brother, out for many years but now back in and gung ho, is bringing his son and daughter out.
family reunion, of sorts.
i wanted to host, but then i realized that my disfellowshipped daughter would not be included.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. Heartache is so all encompassing and you have alot to deal with this week. I understand the pain of wishing your family were different. I hope that with time the pain of losing your brother will lessen. When my father died I felt so guilty because I didn't get to spend much time with, he was in New York part of the year and in Florida the rest and I was in Oklahoma raising children on my own. What helped me was trying to remember the good times we did have together. By wanting to remember your brother in a memorial service, it will help you to remember those good times and heal. Your kind heart will get you through it.
