"They (WT) took me out of context", Gail Bethea-Jackson video
by Fatfreek inthis is too important to bury within an old thread.
that thread hashed over several items of interest which you may want to read by way of a refresher: .
is gail bethea-jackson truly a doctor as the watchtower site claims?

Now what we need, is a statement from Gail Bethea-Jackson on her own site. Showing JW's a statement that we read on JWD is not a good idea... :-/

It's quite bold of the WTS to emphasise this quote:
People didn't have the body of knowledge 18 or 20 years ago to say that this is something that will harm your child emotionally, if you don't address it. Parents didn't know the seriousness ... and the long-term effects.
... when their own amagazine Awake! 6/22 1982 says on p. 8 (about child pornography):
But the children used in it are harmed
And on p. 10:
Incest is probably the most selfish and reprehensible kind of child abuse. It is a grotesque violation of the child's trust and dependency. It is the child's closest protector that is turning on it. And the child is a damaged victim.

The video: http://www.jw-media.org/vnr/2122827332/717263.htm
But which page at www.jw-media.org is it linked from? I couldn't find it at the "Video News Releases" page, although I found another related video there.
Edited to add: I found it. :) -

Many thanks to both of you!
p. 8:The presence is invisible to human eyes. Remember, Jesus discussed the sign of his presence. (Matthew 24:3) If his presence were visible to human eyes, would a sign be needed? To illustrate: Imagine that you are traveling to see the ocean. You may see road signs directing you along the way, but once you are at the shore, standing at the water's edge with the vast expanse of water stretching out to the horizon, would you expect to see a sign with a big arrow pointing ahead, emblazoned with the word "Ocean"? Of course not! Why have a sign to point out what you can easily identify with your eyes?
Actually, this is a good analogy of Matthew 24: Yes, in verse 3 the sign is mentioned. Then Jesus explains the signs that point forward to his coming, and in verse 30b-31 he arrives in a dramatic way that does not remain unnoticed and would certainly not need a big arrow saying "Jesus". However, this implies (contrary to WT teachings) that the ocean (i.e. Jesus) is actually at the shore and not along the road.
Also, I truly love verse 23, cf. Luke 21:8.
p. 15:Evolution presents modern man as an improving animal.
No, it doesn't. It presents man as a changing animal.

So, the Bible is a riddle.
riddle: a question or statement intentionally phrased so as to require ingenuity in ascertaining its answer or meaning, typically presented as a game. -

Why are we telling Iran they can't have nukes?
by mavie inwatching the democratic debates i was struck how every candidate, save dennis kucinich, pledged to prevent iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
iran is a sovereign state, diplomacy which ends in 'you can't have this, but we can' will not work.
what would happen if another country told us we couldn't have nukes?
-

We all know that the only country that is qualified to have nukes is the one that has shown that they know how to use them. ;)
