by hambeak inwhen i found this forum i was skeptical, even a few of my topics may have been a bit biting, but i have learned a lot.
after 33 years in the org.

Personally I think they do this deliberately just to get people stirred up. :-)
Yes it seems they meant that one.

All white girls are.........
by Gill inmy daughter has been 'going out' with a black gentleman for the last year.
they are very much in love by the looks of things and have long term plans.. however, opposition has recently come from somewhere i did not expect.
it turns out that he has been very upset with his mother since she made several unpleasant remarks to him.

What a person feels as a result of the way they were raised, or the way they think, is not a bad thing. To challenge those beliefs with knowledge and experience is something of a challenge, but can be accomplished, and can achieve good results.
Yes this mindset can be changed. But what still remains the same is the fact that it is not right from the start. The original way of thinking is skewed. Because what if someone were raised a Nazi? Yes, they were raised this way but when someone becomes an adult they can deal with life for themselves. It is now there responsibility and they can no longer lean on "Well, that's the way I was raised."
So I agree it is not "villainous" as long as this person with that upbringing keeps an opened mind. We're all allowed to have our opinion as long as it's not hurting others.

What's the most unexpected comments your JW companion said in the FS?
by JH ini remember once, we were in the field service, and my companion was talking to the householder.
the householder said, "we don't go to church anymore", thinking this would deceive us....lol.
so, my jw friend told him, hey that's great !!!

I was out in service with our PO one day and the householder was a faith healer. Ironically his son was in a wheelchair. After the HH told us to beat it (in so many words) he began closing the door in our faces and the PO yelled out right before it shut "Why don't you heal your son!"
I was about 10 years old at the time so needless to say I was pretty confused.

I personally think this is ignorance and not racisim.
Your right Cuckoo, but ignorance is the seed of racism.

There was a Caribbean lady at our hall who felt the same way about white chicks. I think with her it was not so much that she didn't like them but more along the lines of she felt it was an insult to black women for her sons not to marry one.
Maybe this is more prevalent with people from outside of the U.S. for this reason. Now, I could be wrong of course, but maybe a black woman form a black nation sees her race differently than one from the U.S. where it is more of a mixed population. It would be the equivalent of a white mother who was from a country where there were only white people. She is not comfortable with mixed marriage because she is not exposed to it as some others are.
This sister would tell my mom (My mom is white and they were VERY good friends so this sister didn't hate white people.) that her reasoning was she felt that in today's society black men who are successful will sometimes marry a white girl as a sort of "trophy". She said it was an insult to black women.
Now, if I were a black woman and I saw this happening, I would be insulted as well. Of course there is nothing wrong with mixed couples but only if it is done for love of the inner person. What I don't approve of (not like you care) is someone liking another race just because they are that race. This is discriminating on a different level. If that person wasn't that color would they have gotten a chance to date you?
I've known white girls who would only date black guys and vice versa. I've also known black guys who would only date white girls and vice versa. I believe that what is on the inside should be the deciding factor not to have a status symbol or be cool or whatever reason.
Before I get misunderstood, let me say that I have NO problem with mixed couples who love each other and also NO problems with any other race. If you knew me you would know that I'm as liberal as it gets when it comes to race. My one sister in law is black and my other sister in law is Puerto Rican. I grew up in Jersey so I am well mixed in with everyone and I like it that way.

DA by making own announcement at KH
by Alligator Wisdom ina brother would state that he is "no longer a jehovah's witness" after his part on the service meeting.
a sister would state the same after her talk on the tms.
or anyone for that matter can express such after making a comment at the watchtower study.

That would be pretty damn cool. You could push the mic stand down when you're done ("and I'm out") and strut down the aisle--right out of the door.
I'd like to see that.

Why is it so hard for people to be kind ?
by oldflame inrecently i have noticed a difference in peoples attitude towards others.
i remember the day when others would open the door for you or smile when they look at you.
i remember the day when you were merging onto traffic and people would let you in.

I think it has mostly to do with how our schedules are nowadays. Back in the day, we didn't cram our schedule so tight that we were constantly running around and in a bad mood. (Well, maybe WE were as JW's, but I mean the gen. population today)
It has a domino effect on people.
