We're all connected- Spiritual Atheism
by nvrgnbk inas you know, common theists believe in a literal "god" who supposedly created and rules the universe; while common atheists reject the idea of "god" altogether.. generally, spiritual atheists are people who do not believe in a literal "god" (thus the term "atheist"), but still consider themselves to be (often deeply) "spiritual" people.. for spiritual atheists, being "spiritual" generally means to have thoughts, words, and actions that are in harmony with the idea that we are all, in some way, connected - that the entire world can be thought of as one entity made up of smaller interacting entities.. therefore, spiritual atheists generally feel that as they go about their lives striving to be personally healthy and happy, they should also be striving to help the world around them be healthy and happy.
this empowering concept is referred to as "wholistic ethics".. although spiritual atheists do not believe in a literal "god"; they generally recognize "god" as an important and powerful symbol of the inter-connectedness and one-ness of the universe.
they see that, individually, everything in the universe is a part of "god"; and, collectively, everything in the universe is "god".

Is BLOOD therapy really a sin?
by Fisherman inis blood therapy a sin?
if a blood transfusion could save a person's life, would god want such person to die instead of receivng the blood?
on the other hand, heart, livers, kidney transplants are ok. but then again, blood transfusions may be sinful?

WHY THE WATCHTOWER SOCIETY BLOOD POLICY IS WRONG:
****A blood *transfusion* is not the same as eating or drinking blood as has been illustrated with the: "If a doctor told you to abstain from alcohol, but instead of drinking it, you transfused it into your veins..." illustration that the society often uses. If a person was starving to death and was given multiple blood transfusions instead of food, he would still die.
By including modern day blood transfusions in the current application of these verses however (which is not the same as eating or drinking of animal blood), the society is going beyond what is actually written in its application.
Many of these are now considered a "conscience matter". Just a few years ago most of these were forbidden. I have studied this very carefully and thoroughly as well. Some of these "fractions" take far more blood and donors to make them, than accepting the whole blood unaltered takes.
"Albumin" for example is a blood plasma protein that is produced in the liver and forms a large proportion of all plasma protein. This "authorized" fraction, Albumin, however makes up just 2.2 percent of the whole blood and again IS approved by the society today. White blood cells on the other hand are NOT allowed, not authorized by the society, yet these white blood cells make up less that one percent of whole blood. White blood cells are absolutely needed to fight infections and are often very important for accident and post-surgical patients. Yet again, these white blood cells are not acceptable by the society.

What Religion Do you Follow Now?
by luna14 ini am new to the site.
i wish i had known about it earlier, it would have avoided a lot of the guilty feelings i felt when i was df in 1998. it's so cool to see so many members.
anyway i wanted to ask what religion do you follow now that you are no longer a jw?

Am still a Christian. A non-denominational one for now and maybe for good.
Believe the bible is likely inspired of God, but am personally 100 percent certain that there is A GOD.

A big welcome to Aleman
by 5go inwhat brought you to jwd?.
btw are you aware of the huge child abuse settlement the watchtower society just paid out?.
jehovah's witnesses settle abuse cases.

Vinny
So tell me Aleman, what should I do if I believe the JW position on blood and fractions to be a big mistake? And oftentimes a DEADLY MISTAKE.
JUST LAST WEEK:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/shropshire/7078455.stm
Just like the Watchtower's stand against vaccinations and organ transplants were big mistakes that had to be dropped altogether.
You simply cannot disagree on blood today. In fact you have to TEACH IT to all bible studies and interested ones to be a JW today. So what do you suggest in this case?
Care to have a debate on blood? I am afraid that would be a big mistake for you.
How about shunning those that disassociate from the JW's without practicing sin or leaving God and Christ? Where is that scriptural principle found in the bible?
You see Aleman, we have two issues right off the bat that the WTS is wrong about, and which can (and does often) cause great hardship to many. So what do you suggest in such cases here?
And Aleman, there is MUCH MORE WHERE THAT CAME FROM.
How about all those failed end of the world, in writing, predictions?
What about the alternative service rules forced on all JW's for 50 years and then casually dropped?
What about the rape requirement mandating women fully resist?
And sex with animals or homosexuality not breaking the marriage ties?
AND MANY MORE.Was God behind the writings of those laws.
AND THEN SIMPLY CHANGED HIS MIND?
You see Aleman, you will have much explaining to do here if you want anybody to come running back anywhere.
Let's see what you have to say about these things first. And Aleman, why can't I wear a nice and neat and clean beard and carry a microphone?
Please do tell why.
Have a good one Aleman.

Another Take On the New WT Format
by AllTimeJeff inwhen i first heard about the change to a members only wt, i was beyond furious.
i had gone back and forth as to whether i used to belong to a cult.
the gb continues to isolate in their own unique way all of their flock.

Oompa said:..."I really feel the JW only WT is just a cost cutting procedure and nothing more. "
**** What are you talking about? That makes no sense to me. How does printing up two different WT editions accomplish cutting costs? Would not CONDENSING two magazines into one be a more effective means of accomplishing this?
I believe they wish to isolate the JW's even more.
And, am interested as to why do you refer to WT changes by saying, "That is why it would not even surprise me if we change that date again."
Just curious about the we thing along with your minimizing their intentions here.
