I liked how it had to remind us to say POSITIVE things about the organization and people in the congregation. I wonder if they've been having a problem with that! LOL

Is the 'growth™' still being hyped?
by punkofnice inwhen i was a member of watchtower corporation, i regularly heard how it must be the true religion because of the growth™.
(phenomenal, apparently).. i wonder if they still hang onto this?
has it been boasted about at meetings recently?

Yes.
This weeks mid-week meeting features a video called Sail Amsterdam which hypes peoples reception to the "truth" in that area and how hard the brothers are working to keep up with the growth.

New Memorial Songs Were Very Good, IMO
by RubaDub ini guess we can agree to differ, but i personally found the new memorial songs (147, 149) to be very good, at least from a musical perspective.
.

I agree! I found the MUSIC and the ORCHESTRATION beautiful... especially 149. They were only marred by dreadful lyrics...

J Dubble Ya Broadcasting

I imagine they will infiltrate the meetings a little more. For example, I can see them doing something like using the first Sunday of each month for a recorded talk. Then the other Sundays are up to the local btothers.
As was mentioned... I doubt they will do away with the local brothers completely. That would create a huge falling out.

Ours (mid-western United States) was about the headship arrangement. "Presiding Over Your Household in a Fine Manner."
Too many wimpy brothers and their headstrong wives. Also, the parents let their kids (2-6 yrs old) rule the household, screaming and crying until they get their way, yelling "NO" when told to be quiet, and are disrespectful to others.
I'll admit... I agreed with the parents/children part (especially since the kids in our congregation are living terrors, I don't know many children outside the congregation who behave that disrespectfully), but even as a brother the "headship arrangement" has always bothered me. For me and my wife, it's an equal partnership, it's 50/50. Neither one of us has greater say than the other. So I guess it bothers me when either side tries taking more "authority" or "headship." I'm all about equality.

One sister uploaded a screen shot, to her Instagram account, of a news story about the Paris attacks and the California shootings and said, "End of the times!" And quoted a scripture.
Other than that, not too much in our rural Iowa Congregation.

Kid has Xbox stolen, police buy him a new one
by Simon init's easy to get down and disheartened about depressing world events.. it's important to remember that the good guys outnumber the bad guys, they just don't make the headlines as often.. so here's a nice story:.
on sunday, 11-year-old tontrevion campbell went to church with his mom.. at the same time, police say, burglars entered his home and broke one of the commandments.. as the memphis police department describes it on its facebook page: "the thief or thieves stole several of his mom's items, but they also stole the young man's xbox game system and every single game that this 11-year-old owned.".
there are quite a few adults who'd be upset.

Does a brother have to be appointed an MS to be an account servant?
by 4thgen inas many of you know, my ex-husband was removed as an elder for child abuse.
i was told at the time he would never be reappointed in any capacity.
yet i heard today he was appointed as an account servant.

I was the accounts servant for 2 years before being appointed as an MS. There is a neighboring Hall 20 minutes away that still uses the COBOE's wife as the accounts servant. It's not preferred, but it is due to the circumstances of finding a qualified individual who can count properly.

looking for a list of KH resolutions for funds
by wannaexit ini've lost tract of all the resolutions taken for funds.
last night their took a new one with the acronym gaa ??..
has anyone that still attends taken note of all the resolutions during the the course of a year?.

The resolutions are different for each congregation. GAA means Global Assistance Arrangement, it's supposed to help disaster relief efforts for the friends around the world, but in reality it probably gets used for whatever they want.
Most halls (in my neck of the woods) donate about 10-20 dollars per publisher for the service year. The congregation can then pay it all at once or in monthly payments over the service year.
These resolutions are updated every year. The names might change... but it's all just money that gets sent to the branch.

Pledge for Global Assistance Arrangement - $15 per publisher!
by nmthinker inlast night our congregation read a letter for the global assistance arrangement combined with the traveling overseer assistance arrangement.
the "recommended" amount was $15 per publisher, which was well over $1000 for our hall.. it seemed steep.
our congregation does not have this type of money.

I'm the accounts "servant" in our Hall and the same resolution happened at our Hall as well. 15 per publisher, which was a reduction from the previous service year of 20 per publisher. And they even reduced the Kingdom Hall Assembly Hall Construction fund from $350 per month to $25 per month at the request of our Circuit Overseer, which I find EXTREMELY odd. But it makes me happy!
