Some Thoughts... I'm new, this is THERAPUTIC for me... read if you'd like
by bbdodger inin a cult, the society of the cult tries everything in their power to keep one in that society, as well as keeping one ignorant of any information that would sever the guise of legitimacy.
given a version of the bible, not being able to read any other version of the bible is just one example of this kind of inflicted ignorance.
in a cult, it's impossible to get out without a fight.

ATTN WT MONITORS!! Enforcement Action Needed NOW!!
by Open mind inthere is a disturbing trend in my area that desperately needs attention from headquarters.
congregations are getting together for picnics, parties, "fun nights", etc.
this shocking disregard for theocratic order reached a head recently when what should have been termed a "get together" was flagrantly referred to as "the congregation picnic"!!!

Funny!
Actually, I hear something similar in my area. One particular hall I am told, is "like it used to be." Gatherings, lots of cocktail hours, wine tasting. They said "you know ******, they just do their own thing. I don't even go in service. It's the new cool congo to be in." This was to intice me to go back.
I'll need a lot more than cocktail hours.

New RBC arrangements/directives
by bud2114 ini joined awhile back and haven't posted much - just lurking like many others.
for the past year or so i have been trying my best to fade away sooner rather than later, but the wife and most of our family have decades of involvement in this mess and well, it's difficult.
little by little i have been sowing seeds of doubt and it does seem to be working somewhat.

Welcome Bud! Nice to have you post with us.
The total cost of the project was estimated at about $2,000. The RBC, however, somehow gets wind of this and nixes the whole plan. Instead, the RBC not only schedules the work over memorial day weekend, but they require the local brothers to strip the old roof off before they bring the RBC roofing crew in, and they ask for breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals to be prepared for 3 days for the RBC workers. The project ends up costing $6,000 (not including meals) - more than 3 times the local estimate.
A similar thing happened in my hall. A very old hall was finally to be rebuilt, first time since 1920's. Bids were taken, and the RBC quote came in way higher than all the non JW General Contracting quotes. The BOE was forced to go with the RBC quote, to their astonishment, which included volunteer labor and meals. It didn't add up; still doesn't.
I also heard now that there is an interview process and records kept on all RB workers. That is new.
Habitat for Humanity...it ain't.

How Many of us Have Shared Our Stories on JWD ? Helps us Know you Better
by flipper injust thought of starting this thread because of the problem of living in an emotionally disconnected society as we do.
some of us have shared our personal stories with you all, my wife and mine was , " the story of mr. & mrs. flipper ".
i think it would be good to share some insight into ourselves , then perhaps others on the board will be understanding more deeply about posts that we start.

Hi LHG!
It bothers me also.
But it can be the fear of losing everything if you don't drink the koolaid. I know elders that try to word things differently, and really do want to help the flock so they take annoying material and try to find the good in it. But still, how long can you do that?

The Effect of Losing Elders
by metatron inlosing elders in the us puts the organization into quite a dilemma.
they hate large congregations.
but can't split without enough appointed local 'enforcers'.

One of my friends told me that the BOE is putting pressure on two of the MS's to reach out. They feel they missed their chance 5+years ago when they were into it, and now not so much. The PO is a person that likes to do it all himself, and now they don't have enough overseers to go around (I couldn't be happier!!). If they lose elders and FTS, that would certainly have an effect on how the system operates.
Many that I see are doing things half heartedly, just hoping Armageddon comes soon so they don't have to go to plan "B."

All the time.
Just last month at a funeral an elder told me "I don't know about that 1914...Armageddon better come quick!"
**sigh**
