  Yes, I think my life would have been vastly different, but I think I'd be pretty much the same person. Growing up JW had you thinking you were one heartbeat away of a life of total debauchery if you weren't an dub, which had me thinking back then, how "lucky" I was to have been one.

  I wistfully think from time to time what it would be like to have your whole life and future to be who you want to be, explore what you want, educate yourself in all ways. Sounds amazing not to have your life planned out for you and every box checked. **sigh**

  sincere question .....What could make you believe in God ?

  Inactive, yet shunned!

  my dad (49) (who was an elder for 10 year and hasnt been to the meetings now since april when i stopped going) sent a message to a younger unbaptised brother (19) in my congregation to see if they would like to get together and jam on their guitars.

  the younger brother responded that he would like to but since my dad hasnt been to the meetings in a long time he feels its innapropriate.. needless to say my dad was a little pi**ed but at the same time he cant understand how he is also now being shunned despite the fact that he isnt even disfellowshipped.

  why do these people show such conditional love when jesus taught the absolute opposite?.

  Actually, (I'm inactive only), we are weak and therefore bad association in their eyes.

  As frustrating, insulting, and disrespectful as it is int he real world, it's perfectly understandable in the "cult world."

  I quit! said something to me that stuck in my head when I was telling him about the loss of friendship. He said, "they were friends with who they wanted you to be." I'm going to use this with every JW that crosses my path.

  A question for the ladies

  i'm wondering if all women are like this.

  my wife is always saying she doesn't have any shoes to go with this or that.

  right now we're getting ready to go on vacation.

  Aaaand another thing... in my past life as a JW, I did a lot more going out, plays, theater, opera...more fancy places. Now I have QUITE a few fancy shoes, classic, not out of style, but something I don't wear now. But I might go on an apostacruise next year and need an few pairs of fancy shoes. If I get rid of them, I'd have to find something new. Right now, I have shoes I like, even though I haven't used them, that would be costly to replace. Sooo I keep em. A few I wear during the holidays, but the fancy sandals...if I like them and they don't hurt, I'm keeping them. Right now they aren't hurting anybody or anything. If I have to downsize, they'll go then.

  Shoes? Did somebody say "SHOES!" (waves to newly reacquainted "I quit!")

  I'm one of those girls who has waaaay too many shoes. Why? There is just something about a new pair of shoes, i guess. The way they make you feel. I think we do need more than the guys, usually. Different outfits need special shoes sometimes...not so much for men. I also do not think women's shoes are made to last like guy's shoes. Thinner material, they look crappy fast with non stop wearing. Not like a great pair of men's leather shoes. (Are my excuses working??? )

  I bought a great pair of sandals 3 months ago and am wearing the heck out of them. (Can walk for hours in them) I saw them go onsale and bought 3 more pair in different colors, I figure they should last/be presentable for 3 more years. That did not help my shoes problem.

  I do love shoes.

  @ I quit! = what a great surprise this was!!! Great talking to you too. I did tell "P" we talked. I'll see her tomorrow when we have dinner, maybe find out more about some of the people you and I chatted about. That was a fun hall at that time, wasn't it? I moved to Long Beach in 11/81. Looking forward to catching up more when you get back. Have a great trip!

  @ Randy = that sounds great! Our last beach party was a hit, and I know everybody was anxious for another one. I'll check out the dates...is it (the fireworks) closer to Xmas time? x
