One of the greatest gifts from the good ol' USA is the gift of America's popluar songbook. All those amazing writers for the last century writing words and music sung by myraids of artists yesterday, today and forever. I just watched a Linda Ronstadt interview on AXS and that is what she said...and I believe she is right. I adore tha American pop songbook.
Well done Gerry and thank you for all the music. RIP.

Is it selfish to enjoy life?
by new hope and happiness ini mean there are some great debates running on this forum :-.
what is spirit exactly?.
what is love?.
-

Whether it is selfish or not is not the question. We need to be selfish to survive in this life.
Life is to be lived...fully. However that sorts out, it is your choice. Live without regrets.
We all have those ties to the organization...either with family or our history. The importance of all things JW begins to fade more and more as we let go of it more and more.
Go live your life and have fun.

Handing in '' Field Service Report '' even if you're very ill.
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy mom has not been to any meetings or participated in field service since august 2013. she cannot walk due to all her medical conditions.
she is either in bed or sitting in a wheel chair.. our family hired a caretaker monday - friday to help her eat, take her to the bathroom and sit with her in case she needs anything.
in the evenings and weekends, we have family members take care of her.

A terminally ill friend told me about the secretary calling and telling him, "don't you have anything to report?!" My friend, who would be dead 6 weeks later, told him "put down what you want." But the conversation was so distressing to my friend, it made him feel even worse at a time he should have been able to focus on his health.
They have such a disconnect with people.

The thunderous applause is the scariest.
I remember my mom giddily telling me when I was a teen, "just think! You are never going to die!" And I remember her saying about 20 years later, "I'm not going to make it." She died faithful to the crazy utterings of a handful of control freaks.
What a total disconnect from reality.

800 Infant Bodies Found in a Septic Tank at Roman Catholic Children's Home
by cofty in796 infant skeletons have been found discarded in a septic tank at the former mother and baby home run by the catholic church in ireland between 1925 and 1961.. unwed mothers were sent these "magdelene asylums" to be treated like criminals.
their babies - if they survived - were taken from them.
if they did not survive their bodies were thrown into a septic tank and forgotton.

I remember when I was a teenager, there were lots of infant remains found in the plumbing of a local catholic girls school. I lived in a small city and this was big big big news...actually making it to the news I guess was a feat. Never forgot it.

I'm wondering if it will backfire as well. Not in a big boom, but definitely a plop in some thinking JW's. Focus on the the website, it's all "God" not Jehovah...which has been their BIG distinguishing factor (in their eyes) for decades. If it hasn't sunk in yet, this tract is an eye opener.
Although, it seems to be a easier JW time. Fewer meetings, fewer hours, contact with individuals in the field is no longer required...just stand by your trolley, simple literature. More time for social and personal activities and still be in good standing...may keep people drinking the Kool-aid for years.
Dunno. Love to hear honest opinions from a JW of this new era.
