Thanksgiving has been a conflicted holiday. I remember having turkey at my brother's house then going to school or work and people would ask "How was your Thanksgiving Holiday?" I'd think, "did I celebrate Thanksgiving?" What a ridiculous waste of energy.
An elder's wife texted me if I had plans today. I said yes, my friends are cooking (only 1 remaining JW, the host), all I have to do is bring wine. She actually said everybody was busy today so they are "doing it on Saturday." Okaaay. And the CO is coming over on Friday. Okaaay.
Everyone does what they want.

Bill Cosby - too much smoke for no fire?
by Simon init seems like the list of people who are accusing him of rape and sexual assault is growing every day.
i'm skeptical of single accusations but the number of people and the similar stories seem overwhelming now.. it's not a conviction but to the court of public opinion ... guilty?.

I haven't seen it on the TV myself, just seems to be popping up all over on news feeds. **sigh** Of course innocent until proven otherwise, but geez...he is really starting to look like a predator. Drugging and forcing himself on an incapacitated woman is a power trip; not just actions of a weak adulterous man.

I've asked them "name one thing, anything, that JW's have uniquely predicted that came true. And none of this "invisible" business either." They come up with nothing.

New requirement to become an Elder or Ministerial Servant!
by hardtobeme init has been a few months since i hear this from an elder.
he said that the c/o told them this new requirement.. "men that wanna be an elder or ministerial servant has to go out to field service on sundays.
if there is an elder or ministerial servant that is not going out to field service on sunday can lose the priviledge".

I was just told the COBE/PO does a WT check of the elders and MS to see if the magazines are "studied" (ie. Highlighted).

I need help
by tiredroadie inim new here, and dont know much about jw, other than what im reading.
i have my best friend who is having bible study in her home with 2 witnesses, and she is soaking it in.
she is very defensive and is getting more and more closed off.

The first thing that Bible Students are taught is that "well meaning but misguided friends and relatives will no doubt try to get you to stop studying ". The more you oppose , the more true the Witness teaching seems to be. I would commend her, be pleased for her , that she has found a faith that fulfills her needs.
But , just as you would not by a car without an independant inspection, urge her, challenge her if need be to at least look at a couple of independant websites . I would recommend Freeminds.org and JWFacts.com.
She has to come to a conclusion by herself......good luck

She is needing something otherwise her radar and alarm signals would be going off. Try to find out what need the JW's are filling. Question things she is learning from a curious "that makes no sense" standpoint.
As was said ...she is lucky to have a friend like you. Try to save her if you can. Good luck.

Are You Raising An Introvert?
by darth frosty inits not easy being an introvert in an extrovert worldespecially when youre a kid.
it is even more difficult if none of the adults in the kids life recognize that the child is an introvert.
this doesnt happen only when the childs parents are extroverts, but also with introverted parents who have never understood their own introverted nature.. .

SOCKS FOR TOMO (Sock Drive)

socks are the most needed articles of clothing, but the least donated at shelters.
kids need socks too, so don't forget them.
