Haha! Good one.
Mad Andre on here had one with a drawing of a tower with a circle with a line through it that said "Apostate Headquarters." Loved that one too.

“the essence, the soul, of disco was shown to be free,“liberated” sexual expression….satan is manipulating this world for his own purposes, shouldn’t we expect that he would also use the world’s entertainment in his efforts to turn people from true worship?” awake 1979 dec 22 p.20.
to cure me of the demons i just caught, maybe i should say 5 hail marys look at jw dot org 3x and put a napkin on my head the next 5 times my husband is in the room.
Didn't the basement at Bethel have a full makeshift disco that was discovered?
We had a gathering in the congregation once, whole families dancing, and some brothers tried to use the African fertility/twist article in the Awake! to get people in trouble. The other half of the BOE did not support them. My mother told the witch hunters that "no" they would not be meeting with me.

a friend of mine told me about a huge elders meeting in southern california.
the subject was the relocation and dissolution of some congregations; it seems that this is the result of some project that has been going on for some time and is going to be implemented right now.. please let me know if this is happening all over the country?.
I think they will proceed with caution regarding small groups. It's much safer for them from a corporation standpoint to be more removed when their predictions don't come true. Their track record is terrible.

Good times.
Boy do I remember those articles. And the picture with the disco ball.
Thankfully in our area some of us just went dancing anyway and knew the WT was full of s$$t.

The society is a corporation and all decisions, and I mean ALL decisions are made for the continuing existence of the corporation.
It only makes sense for them to do this. Migrating to a less personal and easily accessible format via the internet broadcast, they can consolidate the multitude of locations into a "mega-church" type meeting place. No boxes of literature to handle, fewer qualified men needed to oversee. The individual has never been important to the WT corporation. They will come up with more inventive and easier ways to "count time" to keep their reported numbers up. All they care about is how they look on paper to the clueless faithful. If the ministry numbers remain strong and increasing (through creative accounting), then the changes have jah's blessing.
I live in so cal, Long Beach area. All the congregations, and there are a lot of them, are still functioning. My old hall is in a old former church built in the 1920's. It is smack dab in a neighborhood with stacked parking and limited street parking. It houses English, Spanish and Cambodian congregations. It is a terrible location and the neighbors hate us for taking up the street parking in front of their homes. I think the elders there would welcome an amalgamation of the congregations.
came across this this morning.

A quick story about the HLC and PVG.
A young family's first child was born with a physical deformity that affected his intestines, bladder, kidneys etc. He spent most of his infancy in the hospital having and recuperating from multiple surgeries. At 5 YO, he was facing another major surgery, maybe it was the kidney transplant, I don't remember exactly. The HLC in the couples' congregation told them that because of their low field service reports and meeting attendance, they did not qualify for support from the committee. Basically, they were on their own.
Needless to say, this was devastating news at a time when they needed all the support they could get. I had just recently left JWs, and I was appalled...one more reason to get the hell out and stay out. I still honestly can't believe these brothers had the nerve/gall to say this to this family at the most vulnerable time.
The good news. The boy is now 22 years old, yes with physical challenges and an uncertain future, but still alive. The whole family is out of the WT, parents and three children.
This was a good article. Thank you for sharing.
i know that it must seem silly to ask, but my brother and his family think that the big a will arrive before they die.
i tried to explain to my brother that everyone else who has ever lived in the past has died and only jesus has [physically] rose from the dead.. it is amazing that anyone could buy that line.
what crazy cult culture that could make people believe such nonsense?!.
I am a born in whose parents came in the late 30's when da Judge was still alive. Living through the '75 debacle in my teens, I started to have doubts and couldn't figure out how the whole thing was ever going to work. The "dream" of paradise really sounded wonderful, and it was like we had this big secret we were all in on...and it was going to be great. But deep down inside, I had doubts.
That being said, it was still hard to let go of the dream...
i think the single biggest mistake the governing body have made in the last 10 years has to be creating jw broadcasting and putting their gb members on there... on a weekly basis too.. when i was a kid, i had no idea who the governing body were, what their names were or what they looked like.
there was one or two long term pioneers that knew the names of two of them but that was about it.. when i was about 10yo i imagined they looked something like this:.
ahh.... those learned men with a lifetime of bible knowledge just oozing out of their very hearts.
I think it's brilliant as well. I did NOT see this one coming.
All the points sir mentioned rings for me also. The corporation knows the writing on the wall. There will be no huge influx of new converts as in the past. The elderly loyal are dying, the boomers are not far behind which leaves a mixed bag in the congregations.
The faithful are eating this new arrangement up like peanut butter brownies, and I agree it is probably half of what they claim are adherents. The other half...they don't know what the heck they are going to do.
If the corporation were truly interested in its flock, they would actually be trying to help them, in social as well as spiritual ways. But they have no interest. They are cutting their outlay of expenses, building up their investment portfolio so the corporation can remain solvent for years to come
you found out about ttatt way back in the 70's or maybe the 80's (basically before the internet) and you thought that you were all alone in this knowledge?
what do you think would have happened to you?
no jehovahs-witness.com, no john cedars, no arc, no jwfacts.com and no crisis of conscience to fall back on.
I was involved with a nonJW in the late 70's, and we had very passionate discussions. He started studying and attending just for me. There was one day, and I remember right where I was on the freeway, where a moment of clarity came over me and I thought, "what if they are wrong?" I talked my self back from the ledge by the thought, "oh...but we have 'the brotherhood'! Nobody else has that." Now we know that is BS. I knew enough that things were messed up, the Ray Franz thing came down, the crazy Revelation book, DF'g, counting time...but I thought I could not make it in the world without my family and friends. So I carried on.
Now I know I would have been just fine. But I didn't know that then, and I thought I wasn't strong enough. Huge regret.
But the same moment of clarity led me out years later...it had nothing to do with the internet, or CoC. I just knew in my heart I didn't belong there, I didn't think like they thought, and they were full of crap. I knew all along if I had not been born in I never would have joined. I'm glad it happened that way for me because I can honestly tell anybody the apostates or the internet had nothing to do with me leaving.
There are millions that have left and gone about their lives before the information era.
for my first shunniversary i reached out to the local ex-dubs that i know.
i invited 11 total to join me in a little get together at a local restaurant, then back to my house to hang out.
one friend asked if he could invite others, and i encouraged him, and all, to do so.
Hey Mrs Flipper! I'm working on the hand. It developed fibrosis in the joint that was injured, and I am working on it to straighten as well as bend. And that really hurts, so I don't do what I'm supposed to do as often as I should.
Missed you this year. Hoping for next year!!! xx
