Should You Be Required To Wear A Coronavirus Mask?
by minimus insome towns require everyone going outside to wear one.
one massachusetts city requires anyone from 5 up to wear a mask.
some cities require masks and have shut down parks and sports playing while others in a nearby town have no such restrictions.

It keeps me to me and you to you. I'm good with it. Here a scarf is sufficient; it doesn't have to be a mask. Is it 100% protective? No, but it helps...that's been proven.
There is so much to know still about the virus, and antibodies, and our vulnerability.

AHA! A friend who left 2-3 years ago texted me today and said he had a text from a JW couple we both have known for many years. They wanted to know how he is coping with these "crazy times." So I see they are probably motivated to contact by this week's meeting.
I told him at least they were thinking about him. A chance to count some time since the cart work is no longer.

Any thoughts on Saturday Nights "Contravirus" version on SNL? I thought it was hilarious.
by RubaDub ini wish i had taped the snl show since it was the first one "live" since the contravirus thing began but i am sure they will play it again in a month or two.
i know a lot of people were anticipating how they could pull it off but they did, imo, a great job.
it was a real learning experience also for the entire production staff on how to pull this off with most people working from their homes and no live audience.

I thought it was the best they could do. And we need some humor. I thought the zoom meeting was funny too. And and tons greeting “hey cool cats and kittens!”

Find the Beatles Songs in the Picture
by Simon insome light entertainment ... there are apparently 39 beatles songs hidden in the picture, but depending on how to interpret some of them you may come up with more.. please post one each, to give everyone a go, and describe where the song is in the picture (so it's not just coming up with a list of beatles songs).
also, check for existing answers - i'll post summaries to show the ones already identified.. .

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

waves to 3rdgen! Been thinking about you!
I was raised also without vaccines. Chiropractor JW was my "physician." I had asthma, the bad measles, mumps, and chicken pox as an adult. No polio thank goodness.
My first vaccine was small pox when we went to Central America as need greaters. Of course we got the shots then!
I understand caution, and respect science, especially today.
On another note, I am grateful to California Governor Newsom who was first to implement the safer at home. The numbers reflect this action. I'm still working, but go straight home after work. The recommendation is to not go out to the markets or whatever unless you absolutely need to, for two weeks. Certain cities are requiring face coverings in public, or be refused service. We're okay with it. We want to stop the spread.
May all stay safe and well.

Yes, I just found out Tuesday my nephew is one of 8 firefighters with Covid-19 in one station. They traced it back to a call. We had dinner a few days earlier the last night before the shutdown. All are self isolating. He had flu like symptoms which are subsiding.
I'm fine, no issues and no fever. But I did order the fancy Kinsa thermometer direct from the manufacturer, just to monitor myself as I am working full time still.
Be safe and well everybody.

Happy 20th Birthday to JWD / JWN
by Simon inas sgt pepper sang, "it was 20 years ago today" ... that i made my first post on my first forum.. i obviously didn't put too much thought into what it should say although i must have burned 45 posts testing things and was too lazy to reset the counter before going live (?):.
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/46/welcome.
but somehow, it worked and grew and here we all are, 20 years on.

Happy Anniversary JWD!!
Thank you Simon and Angharad! as well as all the mods through the years.
I was on another site, Pathways, in 2003-2004 when I "met" some of the folks that were posting here. As I checked JWD, I fell down the rabbit hole of some amazing discussions. Paradise, the flood, the Bible in general were some of the topics I always had issues with, and finding these discussions here on JWD was confirmation I was not alone.
I have met people from all around the world from this site, as well as Canada and the USA. We are all still friends outside of the DB, and communicate regularly. Thank you for that gift as well.
Cheers to another 20 and thank you for everything!
