Confrontation - is it for Christians?
by jgnat inagapa's quiet admission to "imperfect men" in the congregation inspired me to finish a small bible study on confrontation, and how the early church handled disputes.. (romans 12:18 rv) if it be possible, as much as in you lieth, be at peace with all men.
(2 cor 13:11 cev) good-by, my friends.
do better and pay attention to what i have said.

agapa's quiet admission to "imperfect men" in the congregation inspired me to finish a small bible study on confrontation, and how the early church handled disputes. It is encouraging to know that I inspired you to finish some bible study, however some of the things you said ( accused ) Jws of practicing are incorrect. That is one of the MAIN reasons why there is so much misconception and understanding about JWS. You said............. We are familiar with the Jehovah's Witness method of peace. Put up and shut up. Don't make any waves. Endure your imperfect brothers for the sake of unity. That is not true. The ORG. does not teach us to handle problems with our brothers and siters that way. Go through the bible based WT that discusss the issue at hand and you will see that it teaches us EXACTLY as you have outline from the bible.
- Go directly to your brother to work it out.
- If that doesn't work, talk about it with some witnesses present.
- If that doesn't work, bring it before the congregation.
- If that doesn't work, say good-bye to your friendship.
We are instructed to do exactly what Jesus said to do when differences arise. Now, there are some who dont do it that way because of various reasons, maybe they dont like to confrontation or they are shy or what ever the reason, but be assured that JWS are taught how to handles differences and disputes the bible way. The princibles you site and examples you gave were excellent. It would be great if EVERYONE ( not just JWS ) followed those excellent princibles, but the reality is that we dont. As you said before jgnat you hate when someone LUMPS in the whole board (remember? ) well please dont do it to the JWS. Jesus said, " Do unto others as you would want done to you."
The study you did was great and I hope that the ones who read this topic will apply it in thier OWN lives and benefit from it. I know for me it was a good reminder thanks!

JW official website promoting Jesus?
by agapa37 ini have heard from many people when i would go out in the ministry that "we" witness do not believe in jesus.
when my mother first heard about me becoming interested in the witness that is what she said.
ive seen some make that same statement here.

So the focus is on non-JWs;
Blondie of course it is targeted for those on the outside. thats the idea of witnessing and obeying the commision Jesus gave his disciples....To teach and preach and make MORE disciples.
the question is what do articles that are targeted to JWs say?
They say alot. As a matter of fact Many if not most WT articles are directed to baptised witness. How to apply princibles in thier lives, how to be more Christ like and so on.

That jws believe in Jesus is not in dispute, but they refuse to acknowledge his rightful position, even, as shown in the example above, adding words that weren't previously there to the scriptures.
All Bible translators add indefinite articles ( a, an ) in there rendering of scriptures. The way it is translated agrees with the context of the scripture. Jesus being a Mighty God does not demean him or lower his statis or role in any way.

However, Jesus is relegated to a minor roleWell, I must say that the article I read on the Website was far from relegating Jesus to a minor role. It stated that Jesus is the way to true happiness and is the only hope for mankind. That too me sounds like a very important figure. The article even encourages people to IMITATE him.

It is that simple!!
by Rooster injohn 20:30-31
30 to be sure, jesus performed many other signs also before the disciples, which are not written down in this scroll.
31 but these have been written down that you may believe that jesus is the christ the son of god, and that, because of believing, you may have life by means of his name.

Your mention of loving our neighbor brings up the same problems though. Can we honestly, sincerely and truly love, because we are commanded to? and not only commanded to, but have the dynamics of greed for reward, and/or fear of punishment added?
I think that our motives to love is not only and solely based on command. Along with the command God has SHOWN, DEMONSTRATED it to us even at great cost to himself. So love is caused not only by command but by motivation and desire and appreciation for the one who loved us FIRST. -

It is interesting that on thier official website they have an article featured for all to read entitled..." How Jesus can change your life." What are your thoughts?

Did anything stick?
by agapa37 ini know that many who left the organization left for there own reasons, which are interestingly similar.
is there anything (teaching) that stuck with them.
i am mainly refering to the princibles that are taught.

Another positive thing I learned being in the ORG, unfortunatley from a bad experience, but it was not to expect perfection from people.

The twisted words of the bible and jehovah is jesus
by sinis ini've been reading a few articles on the subject of jehovah being jesus in the new testament, which makes perfect sense.
as i don't believe the bible is the word of god (or has been severely altered by man), i do believe there may be some small shreds of truth.
could it be that yahweh in the ot is jesus of the nt?

Another point is that not only Jesus went by Gods word and considered it his word and important the disciples after him felt the same.
1 Peter 1:25 "The sayings of jehovah endure forever....."
