WT monitors sites?
by Gordy inthere was a post on the other day someone was asking about whether the wt monitors websites such as this and other "apostate" sites.. unfortunately i couldn't find it to add this to it.
i remembered a jw who worked on installing computers at london bethel, some time ago telling me that the wt did monitor websites.
this jw is gradually fading away from being one, so can't say to much about him.

"When Does it Get better? Getting Past the Deconversion Process".
by scout575 in"thought i'd start a thread about deconversion and invite some senior ex-cs to give their thoughts on the process.
i've noticed that a lot of recent threads are about the problems newbies are having, from doubts, fear of hell, alienation from family members, losing old friends, etc.
some long-time deconvertees especially seem to have had a hard time adjusting to life on the 'outside'.".

Anyone have any encouraging words or helpful advice for those just deconverting? ( or considering it ), especially those who were in the cult for a long time?" ( A recent thread from: ExChristian.net/ ex-Christian life ).
I was in the cult for 33 years. Ive been out of the cult for 23 years. My encouraging words are deconverting, deprograming, life in general, its all a do it yourself thing. Now as when you were a jw it is up to you what you want to put into your mind. I wish I could tell you there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I cant, but I will give you this.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.Max Ehrmann, Desiderata, Copyright 1952.

Heard at last Sunday talk...
by Justice-One ini almost had to sneeze and scream bullshit when i heard this.
the brother giving the talk said that the society has never made a prediction about when the end would come.
he said people just read what the society published, and added their own thoughts to it!!!
-
jaguarbass
He specifically mentioned 1975, and said that the Society never even hinted that this could be the time of the end.
Im thinking, he must not have been around then back in 1975. If he was around and he was a jw he had to have his head up his but. And if the society never hinted 1975 could be a time of the end how come 1975 always comes up. Like you said. Bullshit.

What if this discussion board did not exist?
I've been out of the organization for 23 years. I think I'm about as recovered and healed as I ever will be. I think 23 years ago I would have greatly apprecaited a forum like this. My resources were a few books in a remote section of the bookstore.
2.) What if there was no real way to know that
what you were feeling was right or wrong?Is there a real way now? Does anybody know if what they are feeling is right or wrong. Who could possibly say with any authority what is right or wrong to think or feel. I think what is wrong or questionable to think is thinking that will put you in opposition to the laws of the society which you live in. Thinking that will cause you to be incarcerated or even have to sacrafice your mortal vessel. Outside of that I say if it feels good do it. To put it another way if you dont hurt anybodyelse than what ever you do or feel is fine.
Or are you trying to say that since all of the people who post here are disenters then disenting could posible be right? I still say if it feels good, do it, as long as it doesnt hurt anybody else. Its your life, not theirs.

Meetings are BORING!
by 5thGeneration inwhy do the brothers take such offense when someone says that the meetings are boring?.
i can't possibly fathom how people who have been going to the meetings for decades can sit at the kh and listen, for example, to yesterday's wt study for an hour about adam and eve, cain and abel, how we are all allowed to pray, blah, blah, blah... and not be bored out of their minds!.

If they were interesting and exciting more people would go to them just for their entertainment value.

Any "tricks" you'd like to play on a JW or at the KH?
by JH ini'd like to put a crisis of conscience book in their library.
-
jaguarbass
I'd like to put a Crisis of Conscience book in their library.
That would be a good one. Not too malicious but very to the point.
