Ignorance is bliss.Happiness is a mental state. A taste of honey is worse than no taste at all. Some of their condition sounds good, but I dont think I will try to immigrate. My discontent drives me to be a good consumer. I guess I'll be happy when I'm dead. I was taught from childhood I lived in the best country in the world USA. Somebodys lying to somebody. Where you live in the wilderness sounds very enticing and nice. But, I suspect the grass is always greener on the other side.

by OUTLAW ini was listening to cbc fm2 radio,they were interviewing a guy in china..he go`s over to north korea once in a while..he say`s: the people of north korea are ignorant of the world around them..all information comes through the governmment..there is only one tv station..there is little work and everyone is very poor except government officials..the funniest thing is,they are all so happy!..all of them!..they are taught from childhood they live in the best country in the world.as they have no knowledge of the outside world,they believe it...outlaw

Have you become REALLY interested in people now?
by AK - Jeff inwhile in the borg, we seemed to be focused on people, but it was false, only looking for opportunities to 'convert', 'study with', 'help them into the truth'.. i have noticed that i take a genuine interest in others now.
those i meet in public, my gay child care provider, her childen, her partner.
parents of other children we meet at events [we care for our grandkids].

From 1 to 10, What's the JW morale right now?
by JH inif you could give a score from 1 to 10, 1 being the lowest, what do you think is the morale of the average witness right now, considering that not much that they predicted happened by now.. i would give them a 4, considering their new tract that came out recently, that might make them more optimistic that the end is closer..

Driving in Winter Conditions, what tires do you prefer?
by JH inhere in quebec, i'd say that about 80% of cars have "winter tires" during the winter.
i'm still an "all season tire" person.
maybe not as good at lower temperatures, and doesn't give an as good traction on ice and snow, but it's a compromise i choose to save money.. here, in the winter category of tires, we have ice and snow tires.

In my opinion, evolution is just one of mans mans ways of trying to explain the unexplained. It gives those who embrace it a get out of jail card for not having to deal with the religious clergy.

Can we really overcome violence?
by Narkissos inmuch of "civilisation" has been about limiting, channeling, repressing or sublimating violence.. the ancient shift from personal revenge to institutional justice and punishment, and from collective to individual responsibility (as attested in the bible and many other cultures) was a decisive step.
in modern times (at least in europe) the emphasis shifted from punishment to correction and rehabilitation.
we now track down violence where it was admitted a few decades ago (domestic or professional abuse, etc.).

I dont think mankinds leaders are even remotely interested in overcoming violence. It is big business and the golden rule. He who makes the gold makes the rules. The rulers have not conquered and subjugated enough of mankind to do away with war and violence.
