Blood is Thicker than Water
by Clam in"blood is thicker than water.
" well technically speaking it is of course, but how do you feel about this saying?
it implies that those people you have a biological link with are somehow "extra special".

In most cases blood is thicker than water and the JW's destroy that bond which makes so many people here angry and disturbed.

I have back pain. My lower back. I ice it and take a pain killer. Sometimes I go to the chiropractor. Sometimes rest helps. Back pain is no fun.

Do JW's really care if the literature they leave ends up in the garbage can
by JH injust like junk mail, i'm sure that jw literature, tracts or magazines ends up in the garbage can just as fast as any junk mail.
most witnesses must know this, but still they look at how many hours and placements they will add to their report.
what people do with the literature, most jw's know.. i recieved my tract yesterday, and it went in the garbage can in no time.. in a way, they create polution, knowing that most of their literature will end up in the trash..

How did you get out of field service?
by return visitor ini had a boat that i always wanted to name "return visits" that way whenever i was asked why i wasn't in field service on saturday i could respond, "i went out on return visits" and nobody would be the wiser.
just wondering, did anyone else come up with a good way to dodge that question?.

Born Gay?
by Sam87 inhi everyone, just wondering what your thoughts are on people that say they are born gay?
ive heard that this isnt actually possible, and that there is no scientific backing to it, im personaly not gay but i was just wondering what some of you think on this matter, and if you have anything to back it up with, thanks,.
.

My guess would be that people are born straight or gay. Religion outlaws it because gays do not breed and religion needs new recruits.

Do you have any "old friends"?
by AlmostAtheist inhey all,.
i was thinking today that many of us lack something that other people enjoy -- old friends.
we either weren't close to our high school friends, or sort of shut them out of our lives.
-
jaguarbass
Do you still have any old friends? If not, how do you work through the issues of life?
No old friends. I work through the issues of life playing my guitar, and drinking beer.

Arguing on the Internet
by daniel-p inmost threads on jwd have little to do with the jw's, and more often than not, the most popular ones are political and philisophical diatribes, full of back-and-forth rhetoric that rarely comes to any meaningful and productive outcome.
most of the issues are repeats, the same arguments over and over, often with the same exact participants.
so how does it affect you?

For me, I just got off the midnight shift at the county jail and I'm unwinding with a beer. Coming here helps me relax. I dont want to do something that will wake me up. I enjoy this. If I were to turn on the tv and watch the news you could say the same thing. Its the same old story over and over even with the exact same participants. Israel and palistine, Terrorism, high gas prices. Maybe youve come to the realization that life is not that exciting.
How far do I go to make my point? Generallly I consider myself an observer. I dont really have many points to make. I consider this life the forum of many truths. My cup is half full so their is room for it to be filled. I do check back on some post that I find interesting.
what makes this activity more worthwhile than others that I do with my free time? This is low impact, low stress and its addictive. Probbably some day I will taper off or even stop, But not today.
