unexplained biblical wierdness...

a recent post about moses got me thinking about all the wierd things in the bible that are just stated, but never explained.

sure different religions make up excuses for these things, but for some reason god and/or the bible writers, didn't find it neccesary to explain it.. here's one of my favorites, it's the one with the talking donkey: .

The bible is like one lareg watchtower written by a bunch of dysfunctional governing body members over a 1600 year period. All fear and brimstone covered over with a veneer of love and blessings that ranges from rather thin (nt) to almost imperceptible (ot).

They build a big wooden box and stuff all the animals into it. Noah and his relatives have a hell of work to do! They have to feed the animals and shovel all the shit out of a little window on the last floor! They have to carry all the elephant dung 3 floors up and throw it out of the window! Otherwise, the diseases would kill them.

But our friends at the WT keep changing the number of "species" or "animals" back and down because of the obvious problems with the account. If they put the number down ("just a few animals, no big deal to keep ehm") then JW HAVE TO BELIEVE in the Evolutionary process! And that would be a hell of a evolutionary process. Matter of fact, they would be even more evolutionarists than the biggest scientist there is in this field! If they wan't to avoid this, they have to draw a big number of species....with the above mentioned problems/limitations.

Fairy tales are more believable.

By the way, my father and me had this discussion about the vegetarian lifestyle (he loves meat!) and they would get into that circular reasoning and using original Eden as reference. My father would leave the discussion and kept telling me: if I survive I WILL have some good meat recipes in my pocket and get sure they survive, too.....

...for me the original garden perspective, was......wow....how should I say....would make the New System interesting....because then they should paint all these people NAKED! ....Man, I would love to participate in what would be the biggest, legal NUDE BEACH party.....see how sister "Pretty-Pioneer" looks under her clothing....but then, PANG....I realize...what a crap....YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING.....and half of these people would have undergone some kind of "heavenly castration" process.....UNREAL! Nah. Forget about id.

Do you know what is so interesting about how JW try to create the "perfect person"? It reassembles what the Nazis had in mind (remember the Thousand Year Reich?). When I was pioneer I had a study with an german neo-nazi. He was very well educated, not one of those brutal gang members, but well studied, intelligent. He said that JW appeal to him because they wanted something similar like the Nazis - to create the Herrenmensch (look at http://www.answers.com/topic/master-race). He told me: look, Hitler wanted to get rid of the unworthy and you people too. Look, I love the well behaved, obedient blond-german wife.....you people are creating the same kind of woman. We have many similarities. He said that with an smile.

After that study it dawned me that something with my beliefs wasn't right....if it appeals to Neo-nazis, than definitely that wasn't the world I would like to live.

i remember being a teenager and my hormones were on overdrive.

the young witnesses i knew, male and female, were all feeling the same thing.

we would bring up sex, in one form or another, all the time.

I do everything and anything she wants me to do(and visibly enjoy it in the process), but getting her to
reciprocate is like pulling teeth sometimes(And when she does, it's obvious she's not enjoying herself.) Things like that do not go unnoticed by myself and it takes away almost all
enjoyment of sex. I knew from the day we married that the sex would be horrible. On our wedding day, I was undressing her so that we could go in the jacuzzi together. She just stood
there like a tree. No enthusiasm. I had to coach her into taking my clothes off. She was like a dead fish in the sack,,,
I suspect that her marriage to me is based on financial support and companionships(as many, if not a majority of marriages are based on)
My no strings, sexual encounters of the past were based on sexual fulfillment and having a good time.
My marriage may merely be a financial fulfillment for her. And that my friend, makes for a lot of bad sex.

HOW TRUE! My case, too. With exception that I didn't experience the casual sex with others (I'm still a "faithfull" JW.....). Another reason for JW to be married (like myself): Oh, but she is such a good pioneer.....that was supposed to make a good marriage.

I totally agree with you free2beme. I was an elder for 15 years and had to sit through quite a few JC hearings (i absolutely hated it, whilst others had delight in doing this shit). I am not an elder anymore and I can agree from my own personal experience that marrying too young is absolutley wrong and I go even one step further.

I know that what I am going to say will provoke, but this is an personal observation. Here it goes:

I think the high incident rate of child abuse on part of elders/ministerial servants is due to repressed sex lifes in youth. (I know, I know it is ABSOLUTELY NO excuse and when I was an elder this type of wrongdoing stole my sleep, It hurts me to think about the victims as I have one in my family). But I have observed during those hearings that some of these men where RAISED as witnesses and could not go through the normal process of experiencing sex when you are 15.....many of them are still childish and are mentally or emotionally stuck in an earlier time period of they're lifes!

So. This is my statement. I am an observer that likes to stand on the sideline and learn from peoples behaviour/psychologie. I might be wrong, but the above statement is based on my observations during those JC meetings.

Any other thoughts?

It is cold here; saw flakes on Thursday but it didn’t stay. The US Thanksgiving is coming up soon only 19 days. I know Canada has Thanksgiving on October 1. What about where you live? Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberries, hashbrown/cheese casserole, green bean casserole, squash, raspberry jello dessert, pumpkin and lemon meringue pie at my house.

I could say the same: It is cold here AT MY KINGDOM HALL!

By the way, sounds you have the REAL spiritual food there on your Thanksgiving menu.....way better than the crappy article! You are my hero! when i came here in may, i began to see phrases like "voting with their wallets" or "voting with their feet" in regards to declining contributions and declining attendance figures.

i think i am seeing the former in action..... last sunday i went to the local ca.

at the half they read the accounts report--aka, cough up that dough report--and there was a "$4,000 deficit.

I always found those "business meetings" odd and useless! As an elder I stopped assisting for the last couple ass-emblies, because there was no point to ask for a vote if everybody is expected to "aye" that.

JUST GRAB THE MONEY YOU BASTARDS, and don't pretend you've "asked" for it. and again they can say "it was the witnesses that desperately wanted to DONATE that money VOLUNTARILY".......

Man. Those meetings are utter BS. As an elder I always wondered that the announcement is given on a Sunday Morning, everybody gets emotionally charged and in the money that comes in on the afternoon or after the assembly (as people count the leftover from an already expensive weekend) are stashed into the boxes. Since the assembly is over that money is counted AFTERWARDS and "carried over" to the next meeting. At my circuit that money could well been "eaten away" between one assembly and the other. It was always some money that might be in the account, fair enough. But is mentioned at the beginning of the NEXT ass-embly, but since the new ass-embly started, the costs eat that away....

Its sneaky.

Because it just follows the same line you find in the Bible. Murder is better than sex.

A couple weeks ago they mention David in some Watchtower study, and said he committed THREE terrible sins. And left out the murder of Bathsebas husband.

Its OK for Moses to kill Egyptians and other people that get in his way. But it is terrible for Joseph to shag Potiphars wife. Paul kills christians, but rambles against sex, touching women, .......

Its just Middle East, Stoneage-thinking.
