I was JUST re-searching JW Forum AND the Watchtower Library to check on the Earthquakes thingy again. You are right, our speaker mentioned the same statistic - and I am in an European country - he had the outline in his hands and read from it!!!! So it must be in the outline.
For the ones that missed it (shame on you...) here a "wrap up" from me (HAD to go.....):

What annoyed me at this part of the talk was: he takes like 20 minutes (out of the 45 available) to create that FEAR scenario.....(used by shaddy sales people, too).....Mentions the spanish flu that killed millions....but forgets to mention that the 20th, 21st, Century have seen some of the most amazing advancements in medicine, erradication of diseases, vaccines, heart transplants.......I'm reading a book about the History of Economics and in the 17th Century as a peasant you couldn't even OPEN AN BANK ACCOUNT.....only the noble ones! Today every dude can open bank accounts, credit cards, loans, trade stocks, go to High School, VOTE (women and Blacks), Slavery erradicated, ....yeah right, times are getting worser...UTTER BS.

This was my most precious moment during the talk: he mentions SECURITY and how Jehovah protects his servants and reads up about Jesus being protected in Marys womb, etcetc. BUT I thought to myself (I think he read that scripture, can't remember): Jesus and his parents HAD TO FLEE to BAD EGYPT and here it comes: become INMIGRANTS AND MISS A AWFUL LOT OF TEMPLE VISITS (3 years missing the meetings would put YOU and ME on the black list....). NO protection for Jesus. If I had to get a job in another country and miss the meetings for 3 years straight......well, well, well.....you know how that could get you in trouble. "You have to trust in Jehovah". I guess Mary and Joseph didn't trust either....better look for REAL SECURITY: wander to Egypt.
LOL and LOL again! Thanks for that snippet of valuable argumentation in my arsenal.....

Exactly! This is what I was thinking. It has nothing to do with the lottery winning ITSELF. These kind of people make they're lifes miserable with or without lottery winning. It only shows you that live quality is first of all INTERNAL - you have to learn how to enjoy life - even more with 300 Mio at hand!!!
I would live quietly, enjoying things and not thinking too much about the 300 in the bank....if I would die and 290 where still leftover, it wouldn't bother me (well, after dying even less so...).
Should you ever win, don't tell it around, choose to get your winnings ANONYMOUSLY - you don't have to be on every newspaper frontpage.
Also. Donate like 200 million (out of the 300) to this cause - bringing the Watchtower down! With they're own weapons = money.

I'm an elder (although an increasingly "inactive" one....) and my comments are:
1. One of these days I will wipe my arse with the magazines. I just don't know which one I will use.....
....Seriously, this turned my stomach upside down. The reason is that my family (hardtime jws) are good people. I love them and they can't see through the "fog" the WT is constantly blowing around the lovely "Brotherhood"....

I HATE this structure. What they have made out of me and my family. I have wasted time, energy for a bunch of crocks.
But they WILL pay back. I will stay as an elder as long as possible, because I can greatly use my influence. PLUS. I'm playing the lottery and have a few other businesss going - I don't know what the future brings. BUT. Should I make a big strike (lottery winning) OR get myself financially going - than my next step is to use funds to fight them back. One important fund is a "Bethelites-get-the-hell-outta-there"-Fund organization. As I know some of them would - IF they COULD.

I can't order anything from that page! (its all physical products, my family will kill me....my country does not have books on R.F. in the library. I could at most order ebooks from lulu press, which i did in the past, but they dont have it either) im kind of "not free" to roam around for stuff like this...if you understand.
the specific part i need is the bible quotes he used, mentioning that paul went to another place to talk with "another GB" not the one in jerusalem.....he compared two bible quotes against each other. i don't need the whole 7 pages.....i remember the details by memory, i just can't remember the specific bible scriptures....the person im talking to will only accept "bible based reasoning" (whatever that is, but to satisfy his mind)

It is the part where Ray mentions that he went once to a Gilead graduation and F. Franz was giving biblical explanations about a second Governing Body (Ray even quotes some bible verses from that talk).....showing that F.Franz was obviously deviating from the Governing Body idea.
Do you remember that part? If I am not mistaken and I think I remember this part quite well, it was at the bottom of some page in small print.

a recent post about moses got me thinking about all the wierd things in the bible that are just stated, but never explained.
sure different religions make up excuses for these things, but for some reason god and/or the bible writers, didn't find it neccesary to explain it.. here's one of my favorites, it's the one with the talking donkey: .

They build a big wooden box and stuff all the animals into it. Noah and his relatives have a hell of work to do! They have to feed the animals and shovel all the shit out of a little window on the last floor! They have to carry all the elephant dung 3 floors up and throw it out of the window! Otherwise, the diseases would kill them.

But our friends at the WT keep changing the number of "species" or "animals" back and down because of the obvious problems with the account. If they put the number down ("just a few animals, no big deal to keep ehm") then JW HAVE TO BELIEVE in the Evolutionary process! And that would be a hell of a evolutionary process. Matter of fact, they would be even more evolutionarists than the biggest scientist there is in this field! If they wan't to avoid this, they have to draw a big number of species....with the above mentioned problems/limitations.
Fairy tales are more believable.
