Awesome analogies, Apocalypse.
Quote:
"Now, someone will say "you can't help them"... "they are all brainwashed"...
"They would be missing the point. I am not trying to help everyone. I view the Kingdom Hall like a Borg ship. You can walk down the hallway and as long as you don't disturb the wrong ones, they don't notice you. Borg.
"For the most part, I view the dubs as background noise. Like walking through a barnyard full of unthinking animals. But every now and then one of the animals says a word, and you backup and ask "can you talk?" ...to see if you heard right. And it answer "yes". So you have found one of the animals that is more than what he or she appears to be. It has learned to talk and think. This is the one, against the backdrop af mindless noise, where your work begins."

The Lesson of Martin Luther...
by Confucious inhey guys.... just felt like posting tonight.. comment or don't comment... but there was a good thought that came to mind tonight for me.. martin luther.... no... not martin luther king, jr.. the martin luther.. and forgive me please if my historical facts aren't 100 percent.. but martin luther went against the catholic church.. he posted the 95 rig-a-ma-role on the church doors.
basically condeming the sale of indulgence from pope leo.. anyway... martin luther went against the so called "norm" of the day.. but one of the things that i learned from him was his famous quote.... "here i stand.
god help me.".

Exactly... the incredible gift from Martin Luther was that he proclaimed that NO ONE NEEDED THE POPE TO BE HEARD BY GOD.
You know, I have been out of the Witnesses for a couple of decades now, and I had never thought of how similar the WTBTS is to the POPE until I read these forums. It is much more similar than ANYONE would like to admit (Catholics included!!! ha!) -

Where I stand...
by Justice-One ini guess its good that i now know where i stand with at least one of my disfellowshiped sons.
) i told him (in a joking tone just to feel him out) today that i really would like to know the names of the brothers on the committee that df'ed him.
he asked why, and i told him that i thought they might like a gift subscription to playgirl.

Disfellowshipping
by vanillamocha ini was recently in court for the domestic violence charges against my former (and still in excellent standing) spouse.
he is using all jws to say how he is such a wonderful person, etc - all total and complete lies as some of them are actual eyewitnesses to my abuse.
in his sworn statement, he says that jws do not disfellowship, do not shun, and that i am not disfellowshipped, but that all my "friends" won't talk to me because it is their choice.

I just want to say STRENGTH TO YOU, VanillaMocha... I wish you all good things out of this unbelievable ordeal.
Is there any exDub group with lawyers to help this kind of thing when the Borg gets pulls out their own? Seems to me if he has a lawyer, you need one too...

Did u want to leave the org bcause u were doing something immoral?
by Will2Power in..and then sought to justify your leaving the organisation/religion by researching websites like this (to salve your conscience, justify continuing in your pleasurable but unscriptural lifestyle), or did you sincerely leave purely because you discovered certain false teachings, scandals, etc, while still living a moral, christian lifestyle?
be honest now, i mean really honest.
(this is not meant to offend anyone but viewed like a survey).

Agreed, AuldSoul, thank you for asking, Will2Power...
This is an excellent question. Seems to be one that faithful but doubting and divided lurkers might find quite educational. And to those dear, questioning, lurking ones who may be reading this... read on. You ain't seen nothin' yet.
Peace. -

You are doing great... and as always, jgnat has a great resource to back you up...
And SmilesSmile advice is priceless. That is what I told my precious neices and nephews years ago when they were both pioneering... I would love them and I would be there for them no matter what. Now, they know what that means.
Patience and love... and it ain't gonna be easy for you to see the pain she's going to go through. You're best bet is to become a haven... of love and acceptance... and as has already been brought up... most JDub kids panic when someone tries to "force" a birthday party on them... just do what can be enjoyed in full and not create a mental/spiritual struggle just yet.
And remember... most JW kids leave anyway... the stats are on your side. -

JW deaths ONLY due to blood issue? Think again.
by BabaYaga inthis is sort-of a re-post, in my reply to thewanderer's thread, heading: "when you started to arrive on your decision about leaving.
" it just occurred to me that this might be a good place to have others sharing experiences where the wtbts dictates were not only unloving, but actually deadly.
for over 15 years i excused the organization and the horribly wrong and sometimes death-dealing advice or decrees of the elders.
