On, the Memorial invite's second page, it stated that 'Jesus gave his life for us 1,974 years ago'.....someone said, if you add 33 years to that, which was when he died...you get year 2,007 ?????
What could this mean? :) - hahaha

Can anyone say Damage Control!!! ============================================================================ Subject: FW: Bro. Moberg sends...MATT.24:14 BEING FULFILLED? NOT TRUE ! I recalled this message because it does not have the approval of the slave.
FRIENDS - THERE IS THE EMAIL AND SOUND BIT GOING AROUND THAT A BROTHER GAVE AT AN ASSEMBLY THAT SAID THAT THE "FAITHFUL AND DISCREET SLAVE" HAD SAID THAT MATT. 24:14 WAS FULFILLED. NOT TRUE. A BROTHER HAS CHECKED WITH LEGAL AT THE BRANCH AND HE SAID THAT IT WAS NOT TRUE AND WAS "BEING HANDLED" AT THIS TIME. PLEASE.. IF YOU HEAR OF THIS OR YOU HAVE RECEIVED IT AND SENT IT OUT TO SOMEONE ELSE..PLEASE SEND THEM THE TRUTH SO WE CAN STOP THIS FALSE EMAIL & SOUND BIT.
MUCH THANKS...AND WARM CHRISTIAN LOVE... BRO. RICK MOBERG
I think the answer depends on whether or not a person has family or really close friends in the ORG.....
For me, I plant little seeds, without out rightly questioning the WTC ORG, b/c if I do that, the JW will shut down & not listen 2 anything else I say. I would not want 2 drag someone out of the ORG, b/c some ppl need that ORG/their hope 2 survive in this world. I would feel bad dragging someone away from their belief system & then them not being prepared to cope in this world with this org. I feel everyone has 2 leave on their own terms & when they are ready & not be force feed all the truths about that org & then not be ready 2 cope on their own.

despite all the shunning crap - or perhaps because of it - i feel less inclined to take positive action against the watchtower these days.
perhaps it's just a temporary malaise or maybe it's that the organisation i looked up to for so long now seems small, petty and trivial and frankly i just don't want to waste my time and energy on it.. what do you think..
Gregor " For me, on a personal level, I'm satisfied that the WTS was defeated in 1995 when they published what amounted to a retraction of the 1914 doctrine. " Excellent point. CD.
hey all,.
new member here.
i've been on the site a few times since my wife looked up a bunch of ex-j dub stuff (she's an ex herself).. anywho, my abreviated story..... born in los angeles to still active witnesses.
Welcome brent to JWD.......enjoy the ride.
CD.
some four years ago, i handed in my last report in the kh.
both wanted our children to have a more mainstream life than the witnesses frame could offer.
in time, my wife and i got separated.
Inquiryman - thanks very much for your experience. It is very inspiring. Wow. You sound like a great man/great father. Much success will all you do.

i told them i never wanted to talk about it again, to never bring it up unless i had questions for them.
i said, i have a question for you.
he knew i had been up all night.
lady liberty - thank you for sharing your story - the 607 issue is one of the things that made me question this ORG, as well.

i was thinking about how much fear there is among jehovah's witnesses in relating to each other.. if you could read the private thoughts of jw's, you'd probably be surprised at the level of fear they have of each other.. this fear is not likely to be the morbid kind of fear, but the other kind of fear that concerns "what will people think of me?".
you watched a movie at the weekend, it was rated pg, but you are afraid to tell your friends that you went to see it.. you were only able to report 4 hours of field service that month, but you are afraid to report this number so you tweak it.. you missed several meetings due to sickness, you still feel unwell, but you fear what the congregation may think so you force yourself to go.. you went on a weekend getaway, but you are afraid to tell the friends why you were missing that weekend in case they think you put kingdom interests last.. you watched a good book, but you are afraid to talk about it to your friends because they might be stumbled.. you heard of someone who got disfellowshipped but you are afraid to ask what happened.. you were unable to take friday off for the convention, but you fear what will be said about you.. you did not auxiliary pioneer during the memorial season and you are afraid people will think of you as spiritually weak.. .
not everyone will let these things bother them, but many do.. this climate of fear and worry about what the congregation may or may not think does not contribute to a loving atmosphere.. what other things can you think of that contribute to a climate of fear?.
this climate of fear is so silly & sad. the contributing factor, as mentioned earlier, is the FEAR OF MAN. Image is everything in this org..not the true essence of a person, but the IMAGE portrayed is key to the success of a JW & the ORG.
the funny thing is most Jw(s) do take part in questionable activities, but keep quiet due to this fear. this fear helps breed a cong of hypocrites...
there was an elder that use to not call me by last name, despite being baptized....& ppl would make excuses for him all the time. personally, i think it was b/c i did not kiss his butt..
CD
i'm just an average guy that been there, done that in the jw domain :) .
i reached my "zenith" lol in such domain at the early age of 20 (i'm now 29) while expanding the work in various foreign language congs as a ms with almost all elder privileges except participating in jc's...the only jc i took part was mine last year :).
by the way, my last wife, a christian, caught me several times reading your posts... she thinks that all of us (including myself) are just a bunch of frustrated individuals...oh well no wonder she left :).
welcome to JWD Little G.....
enjoy the board & your freedom.
