JWs funerals.......forget about the dead person lets preach!
by new boy ingod forbid you would talk about the person at his funeral............what do most people get after living 70-80 years..........a 5-10 minutes eulogy....................the transition statment is "let me tell you about what fred really believed in".............................45 minutes later.....that way the specker can count his time.. as we know people in the organization are unimportant living or dead.

Are JW kids allowed to be kids?
by tall penguin ini had a memory come up today.
i recall there was a time when kids were allowed to read the subheadings at the watchtower study.
they cut that out because they wanted kids to participate in the same way as the adults, by answering the questions for the paragraphs.

Most halls I went to did have children my age, I couldn't school friends over and the only non-jw friends I could have were the neighbors children. When I was a teen-ager and young adult, there weren't any females my age.

My wife loves me more than I love her
by jayhawk1 inlove has always been a difficult concept for me.
i've dated several women that i had no emotional connection with.
i began to think falling in love would never happen.

Anyone else end up on a JC after losing their virginity?
by yaddayadda inyep, i did.
i got 'privately reproved' after rushing to the elders to confess my sin after losing my virginity via fornicating.
i think all that shame and guilt and legalism that flowed on from that experience must've f*cked me up a bit, scuse the pun.

Wouldn't getting married be a sign of repentence? I think Paul said it was better to marry than be consumed with (unfilled)passion
Tyrone- I know what you mean, the elders gave talks about singles going to the elders which of the other singles were worthy of 'courting'. Somehow I was never spoken well of when yhey inquired about me. Maybe I should have gone to yhem about whom I could date.

Does God want us to be rich?
by Bonnie_Clyde ininteresting article in time magazine (sept 2006, p. 50) - jesus said, "for what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?
this article states that a growing number of christians say" the question is better restated, 'why not gain the whole world plus my soul?'......
christians should keep an eye on heaven.

Which of your children do you want to be poor? Which one do you want to be sick? Since God claims us as his children, I would say -no he doesn't want us to be poor
But must people when praying only asks for their needs, so maybe he looks at some of us as spoiled braty kids that only call him when they need something.Moses ask God to not destroy the Jews when they built the golden calf, and he didn't Jonah asked God not to destroy Ninevah, and he didn't.

Have you recovered financially since leaving the Tower?
by lovelylil inremember how many families (maybe even yours) struggled with money issues while being a jdub?
i remember lots of families under stress due to being jdubs.
you are always told by the tower not to work overtime if it conflicts with the meetings and not to go for higher education, for the same reason.

We save a ton on assemblies, actually we quit going to the before our fade due to $, we also used brochures instead of magazines because they weren't dated.
Now we don't spend any money on WTS, but do give to the church we go to, but they have also given to us in times of need, and they approched us with the help, we didn't ask for it.
