The number 7 and the number 10 were greatly adhered and symbolically significant numbers for the ancient Hebrews.
One could list many references to these two numbers and wouldn't you know it 7 x 10 = 70 and you know where that number pops up

World Powers according to WTBT$
by anezthy inif i remember correctly (it's been a while for me) from what i learned during my years in the wtbt$, the world powers were/are:.
egypt, assyria, babylonian, medo/persian, greece, rome, united states/united kingdom.
this scenario fits the statue of different elements from gold to clay.

The reality of the matter is there's never been a total world power throughout the entire globe in the length of human history.
Mystical stories from the ancients shouldn't be acknowledged other than anything than what they are.
Unless you own and operate a religious publishing house, those stories might be useful for commercial exploitation purposes.

If Jesus did return in 1914, wouldnt he have.........?
by Nambo inif jesus returned in 1914, i can understand he would be invisible to the rest of mankind so he can seperate the wheat from the chaff from thier genuine behaviour, but why is he also invisible to the congregation he is head of?.
he appeared to the original disciples before he went to heaven, now he has "returned", why hasnt he appeared to his faithfull and discreet slave?.
if he is directing his church on earth, shouldnt he at least appear to the president to give him some direction and to ensure "his" chosen congregation doesnt make any silly mistakes that would hamper the work?.

The bible clearly states that his return would be a visible one, not a invisible one and that no own shall the time so 1914 was a farce or
pretentious marketing ploy to attract attention to the WTS. own literature.
And as Zordino pointed out created a semblance of power to the leaders of the WTS. as they describe themselves keepers and rulers of
god's earthly arrangement. Religion is usually much about power and control.
If your looking for lies, ignorance and corruption , religion is what you want to seek out.

The WTS publishing corporation has always demeaned higher education to its followers/readers for two important reasons, one being that
higher education usually teaches students information that the WTS. doesn't teach such as ( science and biological evolution ).
They've actually come right and said Universities and Colleges are places of godless evil.
They also said why go and get a higher education when this system of things is about to end anyways ?
They much have there followers preaching ( going door to door ) proliferating their literature to the public.

Do JWs even mention the 'generation' teaching to new studies?
by lisaBObeesa inthe other thread got me to wondering if people who are studies ever even learn about the current generation teaching.. is the current generation teaching part of the book that is used with studies now?

Unlike in comparison to the past the JWS used to quote the generation teaching quite often.
As time progressed this segment of the WTS. teaching has gone to the way side, obviously to the fact that many generations have come and
gone since 1914.
My guess is that one day 1914 will be erased off the doctrinal books for good and they will just keep on with THIS GENERATION as
noted luring tactic toward the public.

Question #9 of this week's "oral review" of DVD "Faith In Action"...
by Alfred inthis week, the service meeting will have an oral review of the dvd faith in action which was distributed in the 2010 district assembly worldwide... as many of you probably know, the intent of this dvd is to present a "white-washed" version of the history of the watchtower by omitting all the scandals and cover-ups.... i no longer go to meetings, but i would have loved to raise my hand and answer question #9 which reads: "what did the bible students expect would happen in 1914?".
my response would have been the following:.
even though the geoffrey jackson admits that the bible students expected a "heavenly reward", the dvd avoids mentioning that russell categorically predicted armageddon would come in october of 1914. what's even worse is the fact that the narrator lied on two occasions by saying that the bible students expected or reasoned that jesus would take the throne in 1914. this is completely false.

Interesting that there are similar strong arm tactics that Russell used to frame a protective structure around himself and his teachings.
Even though his teachings were saturated in bullshit.
I think what happened is that the people whom he lured in, had become were more or less his underling employees, as like what he had at his clothing
stores, where they were to not object and be in complete compliance to whatever he taught. He wasn't just a clothing store owner now he was
a self recognized prophet of god, selectively chosen by god himself, postulated by the pieces of literature he sold and the public talks
he gave.
The similarity to people like Russell's character could go along with other men like David Koresh of the Branch Davidains .
The wording used in the heading of the articles says a lot too " Former Disciplines of Russell "
Russell had made himself up as a Jesus type figure before all mankind. What he really was , was a charlatan that took the opportunity
to sell himself off to the public as something special among the ordinary, an opportunistic attention getter, exploiting the publics belief
in the bible to cultivate his own personal aspirations.

Boy there's a under statement !
One thing that was constantly talked about on that DVD was how the organzation was always and still is preaching the " Truth",
quite a deliberate cover over of all the wrong prophecies, particularly the corrupt commercialized ones didn't get mentioned at all.
A propaganda film that deliberately skips over the commercial trash the WTS produced to get people to work for the organization,
devious but effective. of course this film was made to do what ? more distribution and circulation of its products.
