Do you feel sorry for the family members who shun you?
by SweetBabyCheezits inas each instance of shunning happens to me, it seems even more ridiculous than the last.. this weekend i took our kids to the park - wife opted out, understandably - and we let our daughter call my parents to inform them we'd be there.
this was my first time in the presence of my parents since our df announcement two weeks ago.. my mom and dad were 10-20 feet away much of the time and yet they never said a greeting or.. well anything.
at one point my daughter, who is aware of the shunning, mistakenly thought my mom called my name and shouted excitedly, "mawmaw, were you talking to daddy??

Yes, I feel sorry for the WTS does to those "loyal" to it and I feel sorry for those who decide to stay "loyal" at great cost to themselves. For your parents they probably have too much invested in the organization - hours of work, friendships, a belief system - to allow them to consider leaving it. The cost to them is too great. And sadly the cost to them of shunning you is less, at least for now. As time passes, I am sure they will reconsider.
It seems that for thinking witnesses that do not practice shunning, the witness/disfellowshipped relationship still is not a full normal relationship. There is something that is held back, maybe the fear of being "caught" or possibly a guilty conscience. So even after your mom or dad start associating with you, it will still be difficult.
I think for those of us that think for ourselves, we expect the same of others. But in reality the organization punishes those who think for themselves. So I try not to judge the individuals for what they do. I have no problem judging the leadership.
You have handled yourself so well through all of this. There probably will be times when it will get to you, but the majority of the time you will enjoy your freedom and celebrate standing for principles.
All the best to you and yours,
zarco

Mr. Flipper -
I am torn, I want them to win tonight and I want them to win at home. Either way, it looks pretty good with Lincecom, Cain and then Bamgarner for Games 5, 6 and 7. Aubry was due, I hope it carries over to tonight.
Best,

ks10-e (official release), Letter from Bro. who scanned it! Newer version with BOE LTRs
by yknot inwhile an earlier version was made available privately the time has come to 'progress'.. conscious class and ex both strongly adhere to not keeping things 'hidden' in regards to wts publications, talks and documents which are circulated in order to maintain it's position.. another wonderful poster (who has yet to give me permission to name) has 'reduced' and 'bookmarked' the first full copy link i was given by our 'winner'.. in this newest and final 'clean' copy link you find two other additions besides the reduction/bookmarking..... the brother who uploaded the entire book wishes all to have a copy that includes both boe ltrs (pre-ks ltr and spiral binding ltr).
also another development has occurred.... the brother responsible for this book being brought into light and put forth for public consumption and discussion has requested i post this letter explaining to 'us' (jwn posters/global audience) and 'them' (wts of penn & ny).. i ask you give attention to his words/ experiences as he is representative of a newly emerging demographic within the conscious class.
so without further ado i give you his link and the 'stage' if you will to 'brother johnson'....... [link removed - contact ynot for further info - lady lee].

JW's are not nice people
by Nickolas ini cut and pasted the subject line from a comment made by one of this board's longtime members.
it got me wondering if this is the prevalent thinking in here.
for a very long time i believed that jw's and all fundamentalist christian folk are a cut above the norm.

Ziddina - wonderful post! I think the issues that you describe are exactly right and are compounded by the crazed belief that the world is going to end soon which destroys any efforts for long term personal improvement because god is going to fix everything anyway.

Are some of you scared?
by BlackTwisted inare some of you scared that armageddon may be coming anytime?
lol.
just the thought and the picture in your head that anybody can get killed....>.<.

I do not believe that Armageddon is coming. In a weird way it would be interesting to see a god judging the good and the bad, because I don't think the WTS would come out on the good side. But alas, it is just a weird dream. Take care of your family, your friends and you. Do good, because that is our paradise.

Will there ever be another defection from the GB?
by stuckinamovement inray franz decided to leave bethel and the governing body because he could not continue to promote or support the lies and half truths that were being told.
do you think that it is possible that one of the new boys might actually grow a pair of balls and stand up for what is true and reject what is false?.
there are so many doctrines that time has annulled.
-
zarco
Decades ago the Jw religion prided itself on its religious creativity and thinking ability. It may have been easier then to defect for conscience or doctrinal reasons. Today it is not a thinking group. It is a survival group. So no, I don't think we will see a defection because the individual defecting cannot run to the intellectual high ground. There is not even a doctrinal opposing point with credibility. When it comes to this religion there is not any high ground remaining. If there is a defection it will be for a selfish reason not a principled one.

Flipper - I love the Giant's chances with Cain pitching and it seems like the team believes that it can hit against anyone. Would love to attend a game, although it would have to be a game 6 now and the stinking flight from the Chatham Islands is pretty expensive:)
Go Giants!
