Confused

this is gonna take a while so bear with me .... i dunno where to start.

well i'm still a jw, still going to meetings etc although you do feel pretty bad sitting there knowing you'd like to be any place else.

like i've read from so many of you i've been the perfect jw kid excellent meeting attendence, good field service blah blah all that crap.

Hugs at ya dear, I was baptised as a teenager and so I know the drill.

Many here on the board have found the perfect solution: move away, far away, and the family will never know you have 'left the truth' as long as you are careful.

DO NOT give them your address or a listed phone number you must tell NO ONE where you REALLY are. ( a post office box is better say your mail keeps getting tampered with) At least two someones here on the board moved thousands of miles away, (Jehovah's Witness Relocation Program) gave the family their address/phone number, and then had to do some fast explaining when the family sent the JW elders by 'just to check on them.' That is NOT good.

I am not AMAZING, but I will tell you something right here and right now.

THE ONLY effective approach for pedophiles is directing them toward law enforcement and mental health care. That means directing them AWAY from individuals who, like Watchtower ELDERS, would practice medicine without a license and endanger THEIR OWN FAMILY, OTHER JW'S AND THE PUBLIC.

When confronted with the fact that Watchtower has conspired, since 1967 IN WRITING to place known sexual offenders AWAY from teh reach of law enforcement/mental health professionals and AT THE PUBLIC'S FRONT DOOR, J.R.Brown spokesman said:

"We don't change for anybody".

As far as what happeens to the pedophiles, that is neither here nor there. It is none of OUR business and none of OUR concern. What's the matter 4S, are you afwaid da poor widdle pedophile is gonna get his FINGERNAILS BROKEN OR SOMETHING?

Watchtower has given us two choices and two choices only. Pedophiles in JAIL---or pedophiles AT OUR FRONT DOORS.

some of you might be familiar with me through conversation with my wife, cassiline, who has been a member here for quite some time now.. let me explain a few thing about my beliefs which will be boring to some of you so it's ok if you don't read this.

i don't have a religion, i simply believe in myself and the well being of others around me.

My story - witchywoman

it has been many years since i was dsfsd, i have written this to my sister in hopes that she could understand some of the reasons that the relationship between my daughter and myself have been strained for so many years.

i thought that by posting this it might help someone else that might be going through some of the same things.. here is my story.hello, as i stated in my other e-mail i will dedicate this entirely to trying to explain my situation with my daughter.

i hope you don`t mind if it gets lengthy.as you probably already know i chose to be a jehovahs witness, and was one for more than 16 years.

My uncle was found DEAD this morning

my jw dad called me this morning and told me that he found my jw uncle dead, face-down on the floor in his home.

he's taking it hard.

i was shocked to hear him say that he wanted me to be with the family.

My deepest sympathies, FD.

What I gather from reading this board, is that shunning gets put on a back burner whenever there are 'worldly' people around. So if there is a non-JW audience, Witnesses tone the shunning down and make a good show of 'religious tolerance' <gag> <choke> Watchtower style.

Then when all the worldlies are gone from view, and life goes back to normal, the shunning goes back to full force again, sometimes even more so than before.

I spoke with someone in San Francisco, and he related this same scenario, and I have heard it over and over. Some don't play the Watchtower game tho. Some, for one example, would shake a worldly person's hand and say," it's good to see you, glad you could come, we'll have to take some time and catch up since my family hasn't been speaking to me. Why you ask? I'll explain later."

And so on. Some however, go along with the charade, trying to enjoy the facade of 'normal' family life, knowing it is just a play being put on, and preparing for the mental pain of being re-shunned.

Sometimes however, things never go back the way they were, and I hope that happens in your case.

All my hopes go with you dear.

David Sbaffoni of the state Bureau of Deep Mine Safety said the men were probably sitting in the cramped space, their lamps long since gone out.

"It's probably wet, cold and dark," he said. "Coal miners are a special breed. If anybody can get through it, a coal miner can."

Another crew of miners warned by radio by the men who were trapped managed to wade to safety in water up to their necks, authorities said.

These men anad their families will be in my prayers tonight.

our friend alan f. and his wife julie have been on vacation in oregon for a week.

they took a couple days to visit the oregon coast and rented a beach house in a small town south of cannon beach.

i drove down from portland yesterday to spend the day with them and their daughter julie and my son abe.

Hello I'm new here...

i really love this web site and yes i'm a jw still, have been for 8 years now, i'm 35 and am married to a jw and have two boys one is 1-1/2 and the other 5. for about 2 to 3 years now i'm starting to see that its not really the truth.

the brothers, sisters and elders dont really care about anyone, the watchtower is ruining my life, i have been depressed for awhile now and i'm on anti depressants as i started feeling suicidal as i'll never be good enough as i hate meetings, i hate going door to door, and it doesn't make any sense that jehovah will destroy good people just because they don't follow its doctrins.

its like saving to your son if you don't do what i tell you i will kill you.

When Did Df'ing Start in Modern Times?

since russell didn't tie the corporation into nice neat religious package and didn't ward off all other religions as evil, when did the practice of disfellowshipping start?.

when did they decided to formulate judicial committees and start reproving, marking and df'ing?

At the very least it began with Olin Moyle in 1943.

But I believe it began with Maria Russell in 1900 if not before. Russell had Maria thrown off the editorship of the Watchtower, he put her in a home without servants, wrote letters to her friends and ordered maria shunned, and cut off her monetary support. All in an effort to keep people from believing anything she had to say.

It didn't work then---and it won't work now.
